Vis Indicators Round 2.

Its been a long time coming I know but managed to get a few free days to get these put together.

The previous thread got abit messy and I know some of the people on the orginal list had recieved kits although I couldnt remember who Id sent them too so starting a fresh.

Got 10 of these ready to go,
The Kit consists of:
LED indicators that are mounted to the switch blank,
All the Wiring to install
Installation instructions
This kit requires you to splice into the loom for the VIS motors, splicing and soldering onto 5 colourcoded wires that will all be explained in the instructions included. Not hard to install but any questions feel free to ask. :)

Come in at a cost of ?30 inc postage, gifted via paypal, pm me for address.

Will be on a first come first serve basis and as they are abit of a ball ache to make and take quite a while to put together. I dont plan on producing anymore so this will be the last batch. Although do have some components spare so you never know.

C13URD 10-06-11 08:14 PM

i would love this cool bit of kit Jay but A. i dont have a soldering iron & B. i am no good whatsoever with electrics. :( wish i was

Mr ZS180 10-06-11 08:34 PM

Received mine from Jay recently and gotta say its a very professional bit of kit!!

Havent got round to fitting it yet as slave cylinder is priority but that will be the next job ;)

starfire039 10-06-11 09:47 PM

could you crimp instead of solder? I haven't got a soldering iron.

Jay-ZS+ 11-06-11 09:10 PM

One left now.

Could be crimped but would look messy and would be harder imo.

starfire039 11-06-11 10:42 PM

where do they splice in? Near the plugs? Or the loom behind the dash?

Jay-ZS+ 12-06-11 06:41 AM

Sold! Mods feel free to close :)

C13URD 16-06-11 01:17 PM

Vis indicators all working spot on now Jay, fitted my new balance vis motor today... alls good cheers..

Jay-ZS+ 16-06-11 02:26 PM

Nice glad it's all sorted notice a power difference?

MG ZS STE 17-06-11 12:27 PM

let me know if theres going to be a round 3 Jay. Could you just scotch lock these in?

Jay-ZS+ 17-06-11 03:12 PM

Can't see a round 3 happening they take a while to make and are a bit of a ball ache to be honest. They could be scotch locked but I'm not a fan of bodging electrics and never found them to give a good connection anyway but would work.

Yeah Jay, I'm surprised you made so many!! they are indeed a royal pain on the rear end to make, when I started doing these I thought I could make loads in one go, but after about 10 of them it started to become a chore!!

As for Scotchlocking them into the car loom, then that is one sure fire way to induce all sorts of problems.

As for making them again, well I may do BUT PLEASE dont hold your breath as you'll probably die before I get one out again.....!

MG ZS STE 17-06-11 09:55 PM

com'mon kev, one for the road. just think of it as your swan song.

TIGGER 19-06-11 09:21 PM

I'm after one to ;)

MG ZS STE 22-06-11 09:11 AM

big_wasa 22-06-11 10:02 AM

They are just so fiddly to make, the components are one thing it's drilling the blanks and mounting the LEDs that bored me. I may do an idiots guide to making them but SO busy at the moment it's unreal.

big_wasa 22-06-11 05:36 PM

Yeah a guide or even just the wiring diagram would be great. No problem sourcing the bits and making it.

TIGGER 24-06-11 04:44 AM

Yeah if you could just list the components that would be great then I can get one of the sparkies at work to make it for me;) plenty of guides how to fit them so that should be no problem;)

pheelay 06-10-11 09:21 PM

I could make a few of these indicator kits if there's anyone interested.

The part's list is quite short:
- 4x 12v LEDs & mounting brackets (better off going with low power types, as you can't draw a lot current from the VIS circuit without causing problems)
- 4x 1N4007 diodes
- 1x 2k1 resistor
- some stripboard to mount the components on
- about 3-3.5 metres of 5 core cable to run into the engine bay
