How much do 19 yr olds pay for insurance on a 110 / 120 ? I know there's a big gap depending on points, postcodes etc ... Any on here ? I'm looking at a roughly type scenario.

Friend of a friend was asking ... he loves my car and is 19. I'm trying desperately to talk him out of a C2 VTR/VTS ..... HELP !

Hi Dan, is it cheaper if he takes the advanced test, after he has his full driving license??

:mml::mml::mml::mml:

still be a fair bit I suppose, you can see why there are so many uninsured youngsters running around!!

Thats a point one of my mates took the pass plus and was with nowich union and got 50% off or something stupid, think they added 30% to the inital quote but were cheaper overall

Not much intrest tbh but its only on here and a few other forums going to take the audio out as obviously not going to be to everyones taste and return the interior to standard, then get it on pistonheads

Do make sure he shops around and uses the comparison sites as well as those that are not part of them. Gina got some terrific quotes for the 180 with all my mods.

Gina is 19 and was quoted £2400 fully comp for my ZS200 with all mods declared and with nil NCB. Voluntary excess was £350 and was the set limit IIRC. Can't recall who this was with but was done in the last 4 weeks.

Depending on the year, model etc, it looks like the fully comp. ins. is coming out not much less than the car could be worth.

What is the differance if you went third party only, it would be cheaper to take off all the bits, if you did have a bad smash, sell them and buy another car.

Thanks guys. I reckon he'll need to get some quotes himself, but thinking £1500 ball park for fully comp. He's got a decent postcode and a years NCB. All I have to do now is find out his buying budget.

Cheers

I paid £1000 last year on my mum's policy, I turned 20 halfway through it, just to give a rough idea. Mum has maximum no claims (like 25 years!) and no points, I have no points and pass plus. Best thing to do is to just get him to get a quote, it will vary between person to person, just confused gocompare and compare the market it :D

my 180 when i was 19 was £1700 tpft

1 year ncb, medium risk postcode, parked on driveway, no points accidents or convictions.

Last year I payed £1100 TPFT, just turned 20, 1 year NCB but declared an accident I had a couple of years ago. That was on a 120 atomix so a 180 just with a smaller engine and brakes :). That is with swindon. why not just get him on compare the market.com and type in a number plate off autotrader to get some quotes. There are so many variables so this is the only way he is going to get a realistic idea.
