after i stupidly hit a brick at 70mph and fucked my sump and took a 2x1" piece of block with it.
i bought a engine with noisey heads thinking i could use the my old heads. so of i went to my usuall backstreet mechinic to ask if he could do the engine change and he said yeah no bother only to tell me a few days later it was to big a job for him but he sent me tae another garage.
so i went there and two days later i got a phone call its done. only to find out that its only running on 5 cylanders and i need to get a new ecu and they have done all they can so i thought fair enough.
3 months later after saving ALOT MORE money went to see another garage and i explained what needed done (no4 cylander not firing, heads needing swapped, get ready for a mot, fit rear lowering ssprings and replace the plenim) and he said yes NO BOTHER.
3wks went by and not a word so i went to see how things were getting on to find out it needs a new brake calliper, lamda senser, 2 new tyres and that engine i had just got put in was fucked (or so he says anyway)

on his professional opinian he put mine bk in.

so 7 month later i get it bk after alot of fall outs. hes replaced the engine to find theres no compression on two cylanders and removed the rear head and reseated the valves which solved the problem untill it dropped a valve and fucked a piston. i wasnt happy! 3 months it took him to sort.

got it back to mine heres the things still wrong:-
no brake calliper changed
still of on no4 cylander(which i am told its def not a wiring problem and def ecu)
rear lowering springs not fitted
no new lamda sensor
bonnet catch not working
bonnet dented (done in the garage)
oil stain on front seat (done in the garage)
oil stain in boot (done in the garage)
door trim missing
slash guards from under the engine missing
centre caps missing of front wheels
NOT IMPRESSED ATOLL!!!

i pick it up and he tells me no4 still not firing and all compressions are perfect and gives me his trade plates to drive hame which he says will not do it any harm.

next day i phone saditas cars in ayr and explain everything and put his finger on the problem over the phone.

a wire had rubbed through and grounded on the body work and blew a earth in the ecu.

a second hand ecu is tryed to be coded in but doesnt work. anyway its away getting recond.

whoever was trying to code the ecu had the car running on a computer to find out the compressions are down AGAIN!!!!!!!

what am i to do now????

Jesus fella, that is a ***** run of luck....or a few mechanics who don't know their arse from an alternator tbh!! If i wis you get money off these garages as they charged you for work that was not done to the required standard!!!!! If you have to, go to the trading standards and citizens advice, this has costed you time, money and stress and really is not on!!!!!!!

Sounds like a bad dream, dont know how youve put up with it.

Can you claim off your insurance for the original damage??? To sort out the engine.

I know you would have to pay the excess but I bet its cost an arm and a leg to get nowhere.

If you got an engineers report from one of the garages to back you up, reckon they owe you a favour or two!! Might have to look at dates etc, as its spread over a few months.

Work not done by thr garage, I would send them a registered letter and say you want the work/repairs done or you will go to the small claims court. Think you can do it online now, in England anyway, dont know if its the same with Scottish law. Threat of taking it further may get some reaction.

Hope you can get it sorted

Feel sorry for you mate, I would chase this up for sure to see where you legally stand. Garages should not get away with shoddy work and still charge you, let alone the damage done.

How much has it actually cost you ?

I'd be patching it up and trading in if I were you mate.....

Well done for keeping your cool though.

a dunno how iv kept my cool tbh.

i dread to think how much i have spent more than the cars worth anyway but luckily the bill from the second garage has not come in so a will be getting some legal advice before paying a think.

im not to sure about the ecu iv not really hadit explained to me.
