Decided to give it a wash this morning, also tinkled with the ride height ,Fitted PG1 linkage rebuild kit and added 5mm wheel spacers all round to bring the wheels out a little bit to fill the arches.

I presume you mean at the back?
I got all the alignment done and the back was within specifications. The front is slightly out, but cant be rectified without front adjustable upper arms.

with the spacers are you using std hub nuts still?

with the td's i dont run spacers anymore. but with the straights and a 5mm spacers normal nuts were fine.

When i get some more time over the summer, ill get the wheels refurbed and painted white since the lacure is cracking and peeling atm.
First time i stammped on the brakes the steering wheel tryed to mate with my face. and the contents of my passenger seat became one with the glove box

Look good, and sound like a good improvement. how much clearance you got with the dynamics? Finished refubing the calipers ive got yesterday. :)

wonder how much 17" would have then! What pads you got fitted?

If it was a standad mg 17" you would need 5mm spacers irc. iv got about 3mm from the wheel to caliper. and thats with a 1mm shim behind the disc. if i had a straight i would give it a try, but i sold my other set
as for pads, there just a set of normal mintex's, but if you manfoot the brake your going to stop violently :D

if they have the same offset id imagine it would be identical ?
Glad to see you have them fitted. :)
Mathematically a 16" wheel would clear the disc, but it's the caliper to spoke clearance that is the main issue. The wheels foul on most thing ET42 and above - so standard rims being ET45 in most cases will require spacers to clear the caliper. Then it comes down to spoke shape and design.
ET40's run very close to the brakes. :)
