your all gona wish id never found this site soon lol

i went to use my horn in anger tonight and it didnt work! now im sure it worked the other day when i used it.

it says in all the paper work its had issues with the horn before but doesnt say what.

is it going to most likely be the s/wheel bit or the horn unit?

need to get it sorted as MOT time in Jan.

many thanks

Danny

The horn itself behind the bumper has a habit of failing. I would check that first.:)

Mine used to play up .... It got water in it I think. Press it in and hold it for a while .... It seemed to clear.

Other than that ..... No idea.

while im asking questions lol.

the car has a air induction kit on it & the air pipe goes right down into the bottom of the wheel arch, now i can see this being a problem with floods, where could it be moved 2? anyone got any ideas? ( my lane tends to flood so better do something)

thanks ill try the horn bit first tomorrow. :D

Mine works, but in the excitment of wanting to use it can never hit the little buttons!!!

As Paul says it seems fairly common failure.

I have a spare one just incase my one goes.

Phate on here was breaking his 180 after a rear end shunt, dont know if he has got rid of the horn yet!!!

If it's this deep then you'd need a snorkel ;)

If you are keeping the OE system then make sure the pipes are all connected and if need be tanktape the joints. The main culprit is the lower hose that goes from the bottom of the filter housing to the resonator.

You have a spare eh, wonder how you came about that :D :)

With regards to the feed for the air filter, I have mine running into the inner wing and taking the air from reasnobly high up so water ingress shouldn't be a problem:) Check maybe yours is the same, if not just get the end up high as you can:)

I wouldn't take the ZS out in deep water, just ask R1SCO! He drove into what he thought was a puddle, was deep and hydro-locked his engine.

gives me an excuse to stay in bed if its flooded lol.

when i took the F through it after the water had gone down abit it was like driving a yellow submarine. ( pete could try it after all he has a diesel then he could be the yellow submarine ) lol

A range Rover Sport An F Now you with a Mk2 180 are you rich

If its a MK2 the horns are prone to failing its just where they sit behind the bumper... All the water sprays theyre and it just fills them up

easy replacement though i always intended on fitting a MK1 horn but never got round to it

as for the Induction kit leave it in the inner wing and if it floods that bad just take the piping away from the throttle body go through the flood reconnect and away ya go

the 180's standard induction set up is pants as its based on the 2.0KV6 so on a 2.5 you can imagine the car is like an asthmatic and weezing away

HTH mate and welcome to the site

The horns are rubbish just ditch it and buy a generic one, i had two OE ones both failed quickly, bought a cheapo from halfords and it has been fine for the past three and a half years
