Hi all, been looking into getting a facelift ZS180 and came across this one on Autotrader.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/200952348874263/sort/priceasc/usedcars/make/mg/model/zs/price-to/4000/engine-size-cars/2l_to_2-5l/radius/1501/postcode/dh13de/page/5?previous=%2Fsearch%2Fresults%2Fusedcars%2Fpostco de%2Fdh13de%2Fradius%2F1501%2Fmake%2Fmg%2Fmodel%2F zs%2Fprice-to%2F4000%2Fengine-size-cars%2F2l_to_2-5l%2Fsort%2Fpriceasc%2Fpage%2F5&logcode=p

Just wondering if anyone on here has ever come across it before?

2 owners and only 12000 miles raises one or two questions, and Ive also been told by a .org member that the rear bumper spats are for some reason missing?

Any advice would be great.

Cheers guys.

Not seen that about before fella. Mileage could well be genuinue a good check over should indicate if it's been 'clocked as everything should show no or very very little signs of wear!!
The bumper may have been replaced after a knock but also as it is a later reg there is the possibility it came from the factory like that as these spats are hard to get hold of unless there is a zed being broken.

Bare in mind that being registered when that one was it could be liable for the extortionate tax the now:)

Thanks mate.

Was just looking a little more over the pictures and the front bumper also seems to be slightly off where it joins with the wings! It might just be my eyes seeing things that aren't there but Im just thinking its a bit too good to be true!

But with what you are saying about Tax I take it I would be paying a hell of a lot?

Thats probably just the fit of the bpdykit, mine doesnt match up perfect but when i have taken aff bumper whoever fitted the kit didn't follow the guide holes well enough and it's quite a common 'feature' lol.

I cannot remember off the top of my head but after a set date 180's get the heavier tax charge - £415 approx per year as opposed to the £215 i pay for a year on my june 04 plate:)

I see mate, I did do a quick look on the .gov website re tax and it came as £115 for 6 months, only had a quick look though so may have got it wrong! Will look again tomorrow.

Are there any places I can get a free HPI check?

Ask him to fill the fuel tank as part of the deal.
I think this will be in the lower tax band, it's 06 that are in the higher one.

If it was registered before March 06 it will fall into the lower tax bracket.
The rear bumper looks like a R45 one, it has no cutout for the exhaust, and the lower edge should be unpainted, otherwise it looks ok.

+1 March 06 onwards I believe.

Just seen your thread on .org

a quick way to see if its had a rear bumper and it dosnt always work. but look at the number plates.

often bodyshops replace just the back, and the front will have a different garage on it... used to work when i sold cars, people would want to px a car, and the back number plate had a bodyshop logo on... no getting out of that one

Is it just me or is that a 110 bumper? I can't see if it has an exhaust cut out or not from the pics

I wouldnt worry to much about the milage. My 54 plate ZS only had 19k when i bought it 3 months ago and its had 3 previous owners. Im 4th. I was a bit wary as you are but i checked it out and it all runs true on previous mot's and service history.

I would be slighty worried about the rear end though. May have been written off and repaired. Even if it doesn't show on a Cat doesn't always mean anything as some get unrecorded or settled out of insurance.

Doesn't matter now anyway as its sold.

Well, I got an email saying its sold anyway. Did ask a fair few questions so who knows, but I wont be getting that one either way.

So the search continues!

would have replaced the spats though if they werent damaged though?!!
Lifting up the boot carpet and looking at the boot floor to see if theres any damage is always a good option

not if they couldnt get them and say 1 got cracked and they just checked a 45 bumper on, it wouldnt put me off buying it if i got it cheaper than that becuase sooner or later a bumper with spats would turn up somewhere, best just phone and ask, i recon u could bash tht down 500 uid if u hagled using that as a tool for bargaining

If it's sold, maybe the new owner'll turn up here and we can break the news ...

Thanks for the digging guys, kind of glad I didn't get the chance to go for it now.

As said the main thing that bugged me was the fact that it had only done 12000 miles and 2 owners. Just seemed slightly fishy.

Anyway Im still looking, some nice examples in the for sale section here in fact. And Id rather buy from a forumer than anywhere else, if i do go for the ZS :)
