Abit of history on the car

After selling my last one about 2 weeks ago in search for a van,my boss decided to tell me I could go with him and wouldn't need a van for at least a year :mad: so I went on the search for another.

Well I found and bought this car off autotrader about a week ago,I told him to hold It for me and I would collect on 11th Jan.True to my word I set off to rainham in essex to pick the car up.The mg Is a 02 plate zs+.It's had 1 owner with full service history and only 67k on the clock.drives like new and handles alot better than my last one :)

Paint the wheels Either white or gunmetal grey

Fit Xpower graphics in silver or white
aero wipers
H.I.D 6000k conversion
Purchase private plate for it

Interior

Remove Sony HU and replace It for my Jvc HU
Fit green dash bulbs instead of the original red colour

I have full service history with cambelt,headgasket and all other major bits been done.new tyres recently and a battery and brake change within the last 5k miles.I bought it off a garage that took it in as the guy needed cash for xmas.was struggling like mad to get his details but found his contact number on the phonebook website.I found out he gave the garage owner 2 keys but they only gave me 1.pretty upset about that but he said he will go down and get it and post it me.He seemed to be early 60's late 50's as he removed the original cd player for a tape deck :(

all in all though,very happy

His details will be on the reg document as the previous keeper. The fact that they didn't give you the spare is a concern. Ask him about the CD player. I bet you the garage had it away :hmmm:

The key coupled with your address would be worth £100 to a thief.

sorry prob not making myself clear.it has full service history and was last serviced at 44k.The hg is showing signs of hgf so thats the reason i bought the bits.I had concern about theifs coming to take it away so i removed the battery for safe measure.the previous owner is going down tomorrow for it :)

Is that an FAI head gasket that you've bought? I personally would not recommend the FAI gasket.

I have to say it sounds concerning regarding the 2nd key, can you not go and collect it, I wouldn't trust them, and putting a car key in the post, well that will get lost I would think, or it will not turn up!

I would keep the car out of sight or at a mate's place, or in a garage, until you get the 2nd key in your hands. Did you get a discount with the HF problem with the car?

Yeah,dont worry..its on my drive with 2 cars behind it and a wall infront.it wont get taken.i could go collect but its 144 mile away (unless someone on here is close and wants to do it for me?)

got it for £1k so i suppose its like £500 off

the guy traded it to a garage who then apparently traded it to the garage i had it off technically making me the 4th owner even though its not been signed on the v5 so im the second owner.im really worried and would like to get my key.im wondering is it worth driving 144 mile or getting someone to do it for me.

yeah its an FAI one.whats wrong with them?
TBH they are not the best quality ones out there, and I definitely would not use one on my own car. I would recommend BGA or Payen.

Alright mate, cant believe you went through a big dilema to get a ZS or Coupe how come you didnt get a Coupe in the end?

roverdose - not sure mate,dont get me wrong coupes are great but i got fed up of looking for a decent one.

looks like a nice car but as others have said I would be concerned about the key. If the HG is in its very early stages and your handy with the spanners I think it was well worth a grand. A friend of mine just paid the same money for one with 144 thousand miles on a 120.

If they said they didn't have it, what's the point in a visit for them to tell you the exact same thing ? Pointless journey in my book and one that'll just end up in a row.

Then again, what the hell ..... you've got it insured, and that's why we pay it ..... you live 140 odd miles away and who from London would do that journey to steal your car ?

Glad you've got access to a mechanic for any problems you get with the car pal.

Regarding the Radio cassette a lot of them inly came with cassetes in them my 120 did

My MK2 came from the factory with a tapedeck in 2004! lol

I wouldn't worry about the key mate. What makes you think the head gasket is going again? if it was done properly the first time it should outlast the life of the car before going again.

As said dont worry about the key as Dan said no one is gonna travel all that way to nick it, if your really concerned get ureself one of those Stoplocks that go over the steering wheel.

but if i went to buy a car from a garage and i got theyre and was told the car had 2 keys but i cant find the second one.......or sorry mate the car is showing signs of HGF.......Id have not even bothered handing my cash over id have gone thanks but no thanks...theyre are far better examples out theyre like your first one shame you had to get rid of it

Yeah its me. lol. Sure the water in the oil isn't left over from last time it had HG done? How longs it been standing before you bought it. Might just be condensation

ma mate picked up a 52 plate zr for £200 head gasket gone, new head gasket, mot, sold it for £1300

Sounds like a nice little project you got there, give her a good clean get yer paps to check the head gasket & replace if needed & for what you paid you should be laughing! :laugh:

The previous owner phoned me this morning and he has got hold of the key off the garage.He is sending it monday with more paperwork he forgot to give the garage :D

well update time:

Had thes parts fitted

Head gasket kit
cambelt kit
oil and filter
spark plugs
air filter

although i used asda oil im only using that as flushing oil and im going to get castrol oil tomorrow.the keys and paperwork arrived after my big worried post in GC.

Because the bootlids are different lengths :laugh: Basically the extreme spoiler doesnt fit on a hatch as the base is too long for the hatch bootlid

I was on about the Extreme spoiler that the hatch has, the spoiler thats on my ZS not the one that they put on the 45 like duke has.
