View Full Version : What engine to go for?
I dont do all that many miles probably 8000 a year. What would be the best engine for me?
Might as well get a horse lol
With that few miles being done, running costs arent going to be an issue so might as well go for whichever you want the most! I'm biased and would say the V6, should only be 2 and a bit tanks a year!

But seriously for that sort of mileage i wud think a V6 wud be a waste it works out that 800 miles over 52 weeks to be about 2 mile a day what is the point in owning a car.....
no offence bud just seems a waste of cash
think thats a decimal out 8000 perhaps lol, both engines have faults which can be costly, the v6 has the belt change at 90k which is expensive because its a pain, the thermostat housing leaks and there are inlet problems with the vis valves and motors, the k4 the head gasket can go but £500 A£600 pound would get you te uprated gasket with a guarantee n it shoulnt ever go again, all the cars are pretty nippy

Personally I think the question is flawed.
You should be asking yourself what sort of driving you do, is it mostly town or country or motorway?
Also what do you want from a car? Performance or ecconomy?
Mostly town and country. A bit of both really, how does the 120 do mpg wise?
You should get around 35-40mpg from the 120 and around 26-30mpg from the V6 in "normal" driving. If you spend a lot of time stuck in traffic then the V6 is probably not the best option.
Having driven the V6 for many, many miles I found the 120 underpowered. But then, I due drive in a "spirited" fashion.
have best of both worlds, Derv economy with plenty of poke, Niks 120 was dog slow in comparrison to my Derv. The fuel economy is also fantastic
