I just got moved posts at work and now instead of a quick 10 min drive to work have got just under a 40 mile round trip to work each day.

To make it worse i do 7 days in a row so gonna be alot more mileage going onto the car.

Only good thing is i love driving it and looking at it so i will get to be in it more :)

Good reason to drive more.....

I drive mine to work in London every day.

Only about 35 miles there and back.

I use her to commute to the local train station where she hangs out with other cars, what she gets upto is unknown to me......., although what ever she decided to do on Friday she had a fight with a VW Golf, and had a battle scar on the drivers door :hmm:, bl00dy Germans!!!, a bit of scratch X and she's fine.......

Anyway my journey is about 8-10 miles per day, I really should by a wee runabout to do this, but she'd only get jealous....

Ever since I changed jobs I decided to buy a cheap shed for the commute. Purely for fuel reasons and mileage, couldn't justify £10 a day and +70 miles a day. But have used it occasionally and sometimes a Friday treat ;) I enjoy it more at weekends now, it's also just gone through the 48k mark.

At the moment commute is 24mile round trip to LHR. Shared between ZS, SJ & Carrera (x-power push bike).

Moving to E Sussex soon, so dont fancy putting 140miles per day on ZS (although only work 12 days per month on 12hour shifts), plus overtime.

Like Stamford (Ambassador to UN) I will when moved actively look for a commute car, probably diesel type.

I use my zs everyday as I only drive 6 miles to work, no harm in that.

I use my mk2b Punto for the daily drudgery (about 10 miles round trip) and the ZS for nights or weekends fun

I use my Twilight ZS for getting to and from work - only around 5 miles each way - and for the bank run, dropping heads and customers off.

The LMG ZS180 that I had before I used to get to work in Hertfordshire. Around 85 miles each way, which is why I clocked up over 144,000 miles in under 4 years.

Blimey Ralph, just think of all that fuel money you have spent! Doesn't bear thinking about!

I know I could contact our sister site with MGZR stuff, but just wondering what the MGZR diesel was like. Is it a BMW 2ltr diesel plant????

May consider one for commute

Thanks

I use mine every day and its only about a 5 mile round trip but I even get guys wanting to pick them up in the morning so as they can get a ride in it as well!!

Craig.......superb signature and a fitting tribute to a legend....The Colin Macrae Forest Stages rally is due up here next weekend and I believe is still to be held as a tribute to the great man.

Why the hell would u do that. the L series is just as good if not better than the BM W**KERS engine. They are good for 200 bhp with a few mods.

Oh and i do 500+miles a week in mine to work and back.

Have read up a bit more on the ZR diesel & indeed saw one parked in our company carpark @ LHR. Had a word with the chap who owned it (owner for 6 months) & has nothing but praise for it.
Also, gave him the www for the mgzr site, which he was very happy with.
So the L series unit is back on the list!!!!.......my aplogies al_rover :-D

No problem. I mean in my opinion it is a very underrated engine. Granted the design is 30 years old but it has all the performance and most of the refinement of a modern diesel. That and it is very very tunable.

Yeah, the guy I spoke to was asking about tune ups, so pointed him to the site for MGZR diesels.
Consider me converted!!!!
Proves not to take all you read for granted & talk to people who use the things!!!

I use mine for the daily commute... 57 miles, 5 days a week and an average of about 40 for the weekend.
