Well, after Pete's post I thought - Well I'll have a go.

Filled her up at Tesco, to the fist click - reset the trip and I've been "Driving Miss Daisy" for a week. The only time the car's been over 3000rpm was a "progressive" drive home (15 miles) late last night as I had an early start today.

Anyway - 311 miles later - I'm back at the filling station. 46 litres. Equates to 10.11 gallons - Basically 31mpg.

Got to say that as I usually get 250 - I'm pretty chuffed and I reckon given the chance, and my ECU learned a new driving style it'd get better. But - hey ho - that's not what i've got a 180 for. Just wondered.

Sounds OK to me, think I would be pleased with 31mpg, considering thr grunt you've got!!

I tend to get about 280 to a tank, although I never let the light come on so probably have a bit of mileage to spare...

my personal record was light on, filled up £25 of fuel, 120 miles later, light on again... Ooops, a spirited motorway drive

We may need to fill up more often, but at least we get there quicker :deadhorse:

Gonna do a similar thing again - just to see, and this time I'm using Shell petrol.

After that - never again - well until it hits £1.50 a litre !

Stamford'll get on here in a minute. It was his post of regularly getting 320+ that made me do it really. I thought to myself, that with his engine mods, I must be able to get more.

I checked mine to see the average fuel consumption.

About 50/50 time spent on motorways & town driving.

Did 310 miles to 38 litres... so about 37-38mpg, not bad at all! Thats the 120 for ya ;)

I'm surprised you only got 31mpg if you kept below the vis band. My average of 320 to a tank over a commuting week was a mixture of driving and that did include some heavy use ;)

However I will say that the remap has made quite a difference to the fuelling and the induction set-up makes a huge difference as the air flow is much improved. Don't be fooled into thinking that because it is modified doesn't necessarily mean it will use more fuel. It is actually more efficient and can be driven as such.

The OE set-up is only a compromise and is not optimal. Afterall the ZS was not initially designed to accept such an engine so the ancilliaries had to be squeezed in.

I must be fortunate and have a very healthy engine and set-up.

I kept below it for all but about 20 miles .... but that 20 was .... progressive and well within the vis band so I reckon I could have eeked out a few more MPGs .... Been watching the TG economy race rerun on Dave .... Quite a laugh really how tense they have got .... Even JC

Will try harder this time. Think you're right though. The remap and tune coupled with what is clearly a good engine, you are the benchmark.

Under 2000 rpm ..... It must have taken you a week just to drive the 450 miles !

I've been keeping tabs on my mpg since I bought my mk2 180 a couple of weeks back, so far managed to get 29mpg, then 19mpg, now 24mpg. Spot the bit where I had..err... spirited driving.
