View Full Version : My new ZS-X

Collected this from Ralph at executive motoring services yesterday and spent a while giving it a good scrub up.

The car was a development car from MG with a view to bringing out a ZS-X as a production model, which would have been fitted with a supercharger (hence the bonnet bulge)

It was specced to the eyeballs and has twilight monogram paint, rear parking sensors, grey alcantara and half leather seats, traffic master, headlight washers (which aren't plumbed in yet) rear electric windows, electric tilt and slide sunroof, and also has an x-power back box and janspeed manifolds.

The company graphics on the side took ages to get off, and I had to do paintwork correction on the doors to finish it all off. I've fitted a new MG badge to the front, and a xenon headlight kit.

More mods and upgrades to follow

I'm VERY jealous, i would've really liked to have that car!! Just a shame the supercharger isn't still in there!! But hey, i'm sure that could be rectified!!!

Whats 'milliput'?

The rear passenger handle is original and not broken. The rear driver's side handle stayed on fine with araldite from yesterday.
The passenger handle I've just whacked a massive load of both of these behind the handle and onto the bolts etc:

The putty I used was a general purpose araldite one, not the plumbers one

Well I'm in the process of doing the bloody door handles.
My thoughts are the following:

New number plates
Sports cat
Intermediate section
New tyres (not sure what yet, maybe toyos or contis again if I'm feeling flush)
Full paintwork correction with the machine polisher
Find the parts for the headlight washers and get them working
Get a tracker fitted
Possibly some kind of custom remap
Maybe cams at the time I get my cambelts done

And anything else I think of

Ah! The nutter, he sold it! How could you?

It's an absolutely stunning car. I fell on my knees when I saw it back in 2008, on my way to Silverstone.
I'm currently on the lookout for a pristine, low mileage one, possibly to convert to LHD, since some drunk demolished my MkII two days ago. ZS 180's are rare as hen's teeth on the continent and mine only had 27000 miles...:wavecry:

I think the new toy is:-

SV development car that was on ebay, a bit back, your going to fit the engine and wire it up and use it as a track day toy.

I know for sure that it's a write-off: the passenger side wheel has been torn away... Hell, even the rear bench is bent! :wall:

But on a positive side, I've just rented a nice, big workshop where I will be able to take it apart and store the parts (together with all the parts i still have in stock: engine, cylinder heads, X-Power spring kit, Quaife diff, etc.).
So right now I'm looking either for a good, low mileage example on the continent or a RHD one, which I could convert to LHD (if I can find the time). It just has to be the right colour.

Pictures will follow in a separate thread as soon as i have the guts to approach the car and have a long last look at it without shedding a tear...

I just wondered if you were allowed to salvage anything, I have heard stories of some countries that will condem some cars and not allow any parts to be removed.
