Do you have a multimeter or know someone that does, that would probably be the best way to check the voltage of your battery.

Ralph has probably got one if you can get to him? ;)

How old is it? I think some batteries struggle to make it more than a couple of years.

Yes, I've got a multimeter or 2. I'll be at the garage quite late tonight, so if you want to drop by...

better just to get a new battery rather than a breakers effort, once a battery has gone completely flat theyre usually never the same again,

and to check for a parasytic drain you disconnect the battery earth, and put the mutlimeter between the terminal and the post, and put it on amps setting, when the car is locked and alarm active the drain should be about 0.1A - 0.2A

Just bought an Exide 71 amp hr for my derv, that one lasted about 3 weeks and then died!!! That cost about £70, and that was after twisting his arm and got a discount, provided I fitted it myself.

Gave me another new one but it makes you wonder every time you kick it over.

Had to take the old MG one out the shed to get down to the battery place.
