Does anyone know wich ceramic resistors i need to get to replace the ones on the resistor pack? so i can get em from maplins rather than the overpriced kits on the bay

i go with the 0.5 ohm ones as it speeds the fans up a touch, meaning i rarely need setting 3 or 4...

will try and dig out my spare one to give you the full number..

10W0R56J

I did get one fail on me, after 2 years, so it either overheated or my soldering was crap, for the sake of 50p though i just bunged a new one in :)

Seems expensive for about £2 worth of bits if that and 10mins soldering!

Jay very true, i just thought for how much heat the resistor takes it could well happen again...£4 fix or new one with ceramic coating? just made me think, well its new and should be more durable

Why not upgrade the resistors with the ceramic ones maybe this will help:

1.5Ohm (http://uk.farnell.com/irc-tt-electronics/caw101r50jlf/resistor-wirewound-1-5ohm-10w-5/dp/1457924), 0.47 ohm (http://uk.farnell.com/irc-tt-electronics/caw10r470jlf/res-wirewound-0-47ohm-10w-5/dp/1457919) and 0.22ohm (http://uk.farnell.com/irc-tt-electronics/caw10r220jlf/res-wirewound-0-22ohm-10w-5/dp/1457917).

Get 2 of the 0.22ohms and wire one up with the 0.47ohm in series to get 0.69ohms for the middle one all I believe to be 10W :)

i noly need t replace the lower resitance ones - still use my OE 'thick' coil, hence why i just got lazy and went for the 0.56ohm ones.

I actually prefer it though as i used to find speed 1 useless and the jump from 2 to 3 massive; now it seems a more gradual step up in speeds.

kinda confusing u list 2 but in ur how to u only mention 2 either that or im being thick

To make it easy I replaced with 3 0.47ohm 10w resistors.
Faster 1st speed and no faffing which goes where.

lol cheeres just found that out on google to cant go wrong with em for 48p each from maplins

As long as it looks like this when done it will be fine.

whats the red bits?

Prob heat shrink, just to protect the wires and tidy it up. will be fine without

Just short bits of cable to extend the resistor wires down to terminals.
