Have I missed something or what.

Im trying to get Insurance sorted for the ZS.

In December i paid ?725 fully comp

I now have 6years no claims and the cheapest quote i can get is

?790 with a excess of ?1050!!!!!!

or ?1200 with a excess of ?800

Ive been checking arround and thats what everyone seems to be coming back at.

so i put my MGF in just to see. im paying ?505 for that fully comp at the mo.

renewal ?800!!!!!!!!

WHY has it all gone up. I thought the whole idea was it went down!
whats the point in keeping my licence clean for 6years when it goes up. its ******* crazy!

Im not paying that, eather someone comes up with a cheaper quote or its good bye ZS!

Sounds very steep.

Thought the ZS was on it's way anyway .... ?

yeah I planned on getting another one.

I need some cash to give to my dad but ive got enough for a Mk1 180

But if i can not insure it then it wont be happening.

seriously unfair.

Just to say that I did some quotes last month and i got a quote back at ?690
the same company this month ?1098

Is that with the same company? If you haven't claimed you should get it for the same money (or less) from the same company you are with.

I go though A-Plan normally.

the company im with now has gone to the administrators so will be a new company
they tend to go by what the comparison websites say.

i was expecting it to be ?600 or less this year.

i can not belive my MGF has gone back up to ?800 aswell. that should be under ?450!

I'm gutted. ive only got ?600 saved for the insurance :(

Squeaks
29-09-10, 04:39 PM
just got a quote from direct line for ?798 with ?450 excess.

still stupid.

then add the ?130 for 6months road tax.

thats a hell of alot of money.

that scraps my plans for a subaru next year then!

29-09-10, 05:06 PM
Why do you think the roads are full of people without insurance?!

Squeaks
29-09-10, 05:29 PM
yeah and putting up the insurance on us who pay for it is only going to cause more uninsured drivers

Did you do this online or did you speak to them in person?

Have you considered a multicar policy?

Squeaks

all online.

Nah im only insuring the zs for the winter months while the MGF is hibernating, would cost nearly 2k to insure the 2

Think the insurance companies took a hit with all the snow and ice over the winter, someone has to pay for it, and guess who.

Bet we all find the renewal figures will all be a lot more than last years.

Think insurance all gone up. My ex wife spoke to me today, moaning about her insurance on a 1400 Renault Megane was ?657. Thats more than my ZS at ?612.

I heard that the insurance tax had gone up, and will go up even more when the vat goes up.

Still wont stop me driving my ZS.........................will have to ebay a kidney!:w00t:

If mine goes up anymore than what it is now after 6 years no claims i will tell them to poke it

BTW mine is ?700 FC with an excess of ?250 with mods declared if its anymore than this in May 2011 i wanna be happy

My insurance on the derv went up come renewal; the reason from the insurance company was that it is a Rover and is impossible to get parts for - interesting point when I was only TPFT!

To put it in perspective the cheapest quote I got on the MG from a non-specialist insurance company was ?1090.

I'm now paying a whopping ?490 for fully comp on the GPS; which is mad considering it's nearly 4 years newer, worth four times the MG and is quite a bit more powerful!

Mums renewal on her 51 plate Rover 25 1.6 iXL Stepspeed was ?512 - she's just got a new policy on her 10 plate Smart ForTwo for ?165

Insurance companies just don't like MG's and Rovers any more!

Pick up the phone and talk to someone, you may be surprised and get a better deal. I did when I got the MGF insured.

most insurance is going up, due to the increase in people claiming for whiplash in accidents - those no win no fee claims cost a lot, and the lawyer fees have to be paid for by the inurance.....

and also due to un-insured drivers....

and them being thieving gits....

i expect mine to be well above the 575 it was last year.... but here is hoping! in 2 years time i will crack that 30 barrier so maybe it will drop again then....

Well if it makes you feel any better I just got a fresh quote from Greenlight as the last quote was back in July, it has gone up by ?140! So I am not a happy bunny, need to have another look for modified insurance. Wish I took it out then!

How does that work if the police run a check on your car, and those number plate recognition cameras that check as you drive past???

on this policy you can have your own car on the policy too,so once you tell them your reg its on the system ,

I've done all of those, as mine is modified more than most I don't have many options. Best I have managed so far was ?394, before it was ?327. Still looking and have a few to call today.

Peter Best Insurance is your best bet. I promise you will get a good price from them.

Well I had to bite the bullet and get the zed insured today. Went with Adrian Flux and got fully comp with like for like cover on all of my mods. Was higher than I hoped for but all my quotes have gone up. Biggest decider was the deposit and monthly repayments, some wanted a huge first payment. So ?450 gets me full cover with unlimited mileage and a host of features. Was hoping for a better price but all things considered I cannot complain as my Discovery has the full no claims bonus and the ZS has 6 years. Just got to get tax and that's me nearly on the road and ready for the southern meet :D

I think you just need to try all sorts of companies. It just seems so random. I'm guessing it's all just statistics of the cars they've insured previously. Even then it's no sense. For example I've just insured fully comp a civic type r (2007) for only ?200 more than my parents on tpft on a ZS 180 and they're both over 60 and I'm 31 ffs!

Dan1971
03-10-10, 06:02 AM
I have no doubt that there is a register somewhere of what cars are getting written off.

Bottom line - ZS's are written off nearly every time they get bumped by all accounts, meaning that they are bound to be more costly to insure as all they are doing is paying out all the time. Bit confusing about the TPFT thing, but after all it's business - and insuring ZSs just ain't good business.

Must admit to being a bit anxious about the ST - but it's not due until March.

Try this and threaten to leave the company and the will sort something out

And if they don't it might be worth leaving

I got a quote from direct line at ?831 with 6yrs no claims, fully comp. but excess off ?1000

took that to APLAN who had a cheapest quote of ?1340.92

half hour later the manager rings me and says

Ive got a quote from Aviva that comes in at ?834 with a excess off ?900
he then said about excess protection which is ?55 meening if i was to have a crash, i pay the ?900 and then they can get that back for me. Nice!
so that was ?889
he then said lets check what it is to protect your no-claims to our shock it went down.

so ive paid. ?860 fully comp, 6yrs no claims, protected excess and no-claims 8000miles per year and with my dad as a named driver.

well happy!
