My ZS Will be going in about a month from now, Iv started looking at 180's! was thinking of being sensible and buying a 120 and VVC conv, But i want that V6 Noise!.

Got to be a MK2 and its got to be a Saloon. Either Firefrost Red, Starlight Silver or Ignition Blue. Id also love for some Full Leathers or coloured alcantara! ;)

So if anyones got one and there selling soon, let me know :)

Will be in a position to buy in about 4 weeks :)

Your an idiot if you get a 180.

Why is that then Jake? He seems a sensible enough lad and if he wasn't I'm sure his parents would block any move to buy one. I doubt he has a brother like yours lying in wait to 'borrow' the keys ;)

It doesn't matter if he has a brother worthy of nicking it or not.

An 18 year old who recently passed his test with a 180bhp high revving performance car especially with a comment of "I'm addicted to v6 noise" - therefore insinuating he's going to drive it aggressively. I think he'll either lose his license or have an accident.

You know these cars are a handful and when you reach that sort of power if you take the Mick they bite back!!

I said it for his own sake. An 18 year old who recently passed in a 2.5L v6 is dangerous IMO.

Sorry for raining down on the young lads parade but I don't think any of us want to come home and see a "I've had an accident" thread. People with many years experience can be caught out by this much grunt...seriously bad idea if you ask me.

I know what your saying Jake, but I met Stephen at the Longbridge MG Site Meet, in the summer, knows his cars and is a sensible, level headed guy.

Looking at the list of cars I expect Stephen has and knows how to drive a V6.

We can all get carried away with speed (cough) but its knowing when its safe to do so. If Stephens keen enough to travel down from Scotland to Birmingham to show his support for the MG's sure he gets my vote.

(Thinks back to the Brighton Pub car park) ;););):whistle:

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'm going to disagree with you Pete. I REALLY think it's a bad idea. But I won't say another word in this thread. It's not mine to spoil! I just hope I'm wrong.

Yes I nailed it in the carpark, but I knew full well what I was doing, and did it intentionally ;)

Can see what ye mean Jake but Stephen should know well how to drive and sweeping generalisations aint always the best...could say you shouldn't have a car at all as yer from Essex and everyone knows what young men who are from Essex drive like ;)

I shouldn't post when exhausted and irritated. Sorry about that, doesn't change my opinion of it being a bad idea though!

Seriously - the lads been punting around in a car that'll do 120 and is plenty fast enough to injure himself for a year. In that year he may well have clocked up a good few thousand miles too.

Before I passed my test I'd been upside down in my dads Nissan sunny whilst on L-Plates and in a Honda civic. "There but for the grace of God go I".

He's for sure a car lover and if he gets one - it'll be one of the most cherished 180 on this site.

Plenty of guys on here have had accidents and IIRC, not because it's been their fault - yourself included.

Good on you I say - just go steady - and respect the car and what it can do. To hear the V6 - Quiet straight road - at 40, give it a rev and drop it into second. Don't boot it, just accelerate gradually and listen ....... Ah - that's better. 50/55 up into 3rd to 60 then 4th to relax - nice and calm. No faster or more dangerous than doing it in a 1.4 Pug 205.

LOL @ this, the 180 is not even that fast IMHO

Its nippy yeah, but its not a fast dangerous car.

i see 18 year olds with scoobys round my way. you only crash if you drive outside your capabilitys.

If you have the money to insure and run it, I would go for it Stephen.

I met you before and you seemed mature for your age. I wouldn't see it being a problem.

Agree with the above posts.. The ZS 180 is not overly quick. I was in a 300bhp RWD 350z GT at 20 years old, and drove through the winter in the heavy ice and snow without bumping it. :)

Yeah i have a buyer. Good friend off the 75/ZT website. One of his 75 V6's is going to make way for the ZS passing his test. Its a pre production connie SE on an S reg!
Money isnt really much of an issue.. i have very little out goings... i dont smoke, very rarely do i go out. and i have a steady income.

I have driven quiet a number of V6's now.... Several 800's and my gramps 75 2.5 V6 and ZT-T and previous ZT 180 and also several MG Montego's.. inc a t16 turbo. i know what they are capable of and im not one that put myself and my friends if they are with me in Danger.

And theres a few young ones on here with 180's. One of the guys on the 75/zt forum is 19 and has a 260!

I wont be buying any 180.... its got to be the right car. Just like what i said with my own 110. It was the right car, even though it was very basic.

Can the discussion end on this now.... and focus on that im looking for a MK2 180 ZS

Good luck with the search.

You've got a pretty tight spec, so patience may be needed.

in what universe does that get interpreted

therefore insinuating he's going to drive it aggressively.

as that? Eh?

i'm sure you'll have great fun with the 180, insurance would be [and is] my biggest concern.

Good luck with the search Stephen. I too could afford a 180, and have nearly bought 4 or 5, but the 120 suits me fine now I have the motorbike. I have driven a 200bhp ZS round Rockingham for nearly two hours and have to say, even at very high speeds just a few feet from the wall, its a very stable and safe car.

People said a similar thing to me when I mentioned getting a motorbike, but at the end of the day, your in control.

That green ZS looks really smart btw.
