Well after 3 years of ownership the Defender is away. Drove it to flippin Minton Keynes to swap it for this bad boy...

Basically it's a 1.7CDTi Astravan Sportive edition with a few small modifications :w00t:

Lowered on Eibachs, 19" Astra VXR rims and fitted with Corsa VXR half leather Recaros inside

A whole stack of bits turned up yesterday for it so stay tuned :smile1:

Cheers guys, I do like it quite a bit. Totally love the fact that even being thrashed it gets better MPG than the Defender did being driven like a granny. For a 1.7 it's not slow either... ok not as fast as Susan's with it having 200bhp, but I'm in the process of closing the gap a bit :pirate2:

And yes, she totally hated me when I said I was buying it. She's been after a VXR front end for aaages but they are silly money by the time you get it painted and modified to fit the estate. The one on the van was apparently ?1.5k fitted! :nugget:

it's got a few issues that need sorted out, like the airbag light being on due to it having the VXR seats and small stuff like that. Needs a damn good polish too as it's quite swirly in places

that's the plan! Loads of space in the back for Jerry cans, the sapre set of wheels, nitrogen bottle, tool box...

the space in the back is enormous for what is really an estate without seats!

Looks nice, cant help but think solid red would look better but its certainly striking. Will turn heads when towing the touring car!! They are great little vans, I was very close to getting one when I was working the only thing that stopped me was that you cant get an 8x4 sheet in the back! lol Pity I wasnt a plumber or sparky!

i bet that would struggle to tow the touring car legally on a trailer.

my vectra tows 1600 kg.. even if the car is 1000kg then the trailer can only be 600kg, which most are more!!

Sorry, it's not for me, I've never been much of a Vauxhall fan.

It does look very well executed though.

It's supprising how much older Defenders go for these days. In relation to the rest of the market mine was actually quite cheap considering the work that's been done to it over the last few months.

Also remember I drove the best part of 2 days and had a hotel stay to go to him

Looks lovely, i've always liked the car derived vans / estates. I have often looked at the Vectras at work and thought they should have had the bonnet extensions/headlight covers that the other Astra has in the picture, looks mean.

That's the other half's estate. I'm planning on doing similar to the front of mine and she's looking everywhere for a VXR bumper.

By the time we're done they'll be like twins!

How does the front of the estate differ to the hatch? I would have thought they were the same.

Maxxed_Ross

the 3 door and 5 door/estate/van are slightly different at the front. I'm sure the 3 door is a bit narrower and the front of the VXR sticks out a bit more so brackets have to be made to hold it all in place.

It's amazing how many different versions there are of almost the same car, even though they all look the same!
