View Full Version : Rear Brake Sticking...Fix??
Ross, I think, correctly diagnosed that the rear brake was seized.
When I come to a crawl I can hear ascraping noise from the brakes, made louder when I apply the brakes.
Apparently a common problem, so is it an easy fix?
Yeah, replace the caliper, what side is it?
Think I have a spare O/S/R caliper.

I had the same problem, ended up with new rear disks and pads, fitter said the sliders were rusted up. Had to beat them with a hammer to free them off.
Suppose I should have a look and see if they are still OK, but its just got through its MOT so hopefully they are still working.
:yes::yes::yes:
Am hoping that's the only issue! Think I need a kev visit to give it the all clear lol!!
strip down and clean the sliders and pins etc..might be all it needs:)
Might be beyond my expertise. Not got the correct tools and always worry I mess it up!
Plus need to get my damn locking nuts off!!

No luck getting a replacement key for the nuts?:)
Not so far. Seem to be all star shaped ones

post a pic up of what they look like, never know someone might just have the right key for ye:) if not either the welding idea or hammering on a smaller socket that others suggested would be best bet i think:)
Blair could you bring the car down to mine next weekend?
Yeah. Still to get a smaller socket for it. Will post a pic tomorrow in the light of day.

Sadly no, I'm home alone with the kids. Although Grimmy may be coming through to get the interior, could join him? Free lunch included :D
Will need to bring tools then and a large lump hammer.
Sounds like a plan forming... Would be good to get the boggles sorted before November track day.
Am ordering some bucket seats tomorrow so will need to see if Ross has subframes for sale.
Could it maybe the handbrake sticking I would jack
It up and give the caliper a quick hit and see if it frees up
a bit
It could be as I can hear a similar noise on applying the handbrake
