Btw...My MG-ZT In China, it is called MG 7....after a serious accident on highway...( over 60miles, fall asleep in the car, didn't fasten the seat belt...however without any kind of injuries.........) It saves my dad's life...

luckly, It is repairable, now looks like new...and the turbo has been replaced.

theyres no excuse for driving with no insurance

like i said in a previous thread relating to this a friend from work had the same thing happen to him.....

he went to court over it and the judge told him he had been driving with no insurance regardless of knowing or not and he was giving him 6 points and a ?200 fine which is the norm for no insurance

in 1995 i had to go on the dole so couldnt afford my tax, insurance,mot so didnt use my car, then got offered a job of running a pub so the only way to see this pub was to drive well i got stopped i got ?600 fine and 6 points on my license

Totally agree, its the people without licences/insurance that puts insurance premiums up for the rest of us.

Didnt think you could get the car back until you are able to prove you can drive it legally

im not a saint... I forgot to re insure my car when I went on holiday, went for a paper got tugged.. at court got 6 points, ?140 and got my arse handed to me by the judge.. esp when he found out my mum's the local coroner.. then she kicked my arse to.. always been mega ontop of it since lol

Thay have 14 days to get it back or it gets disposed of (sold/scrapped). They only need someone who can legally drive the car to get it back. People who have cover to driver other vehicle third party were charging people to get their cars back for them. It was a big enough problem for some insurance companies to change the wording on the policy to exclude removing a vehicle if it has been seized by the police or other agency.

I don't think all insurance companies do this so all you need is someone who can drive the car legally and they can get it back. I personally think to get the car back you should have to pay for 12 months insurance that is non refundable so they can't cancel the policy once they get the car back.

It is also worth noting that there is now an offence of causing death while unlicenced/uninsured, I believe if someone hits you and dies you still get done as your car shouldn't be on the road in the first place so the death wouldn't have occurred.
