I had a beetle as one of my first cars, took it to a garage for a slipping clutch.

Paper work had it as a 1953 model, but the garage reckon it was one of the first after the war, 1947. Someone had cut the two rear windows out and modded it to the single small oblong one!!!

Stupid flywheel fell off, where the garage didnt torque down the center bolt that held it on. Also used to push exhaust fumes out of the heater ducts.

Good old days.

Really nice motor mate, the rattling could well be the flex section,, the wire outer case often starts unravelling and gives a nice rattle:) and welcome to the site. Stick around:)
