I remember trying to look this up when I had my ZS180, if the petrol light is on constantly on a ZS120 ROUGHLY how many miles are remaining?

The red part of the petrol gauge is so thin that its hard to tell whats left based on that

My petrol light came on and stayed on yesterday (been flashing on and off for a few miles) and just want to know what to expect?

Never had it on constantly, when mines On/off the needles below the red so I don't chance it

Mines on the red now, I am sure someone said you can still get around 30ish miles but not sure

I will be filling up on Friday anyways

Depends on what kind of driving I suppose. Should be a bit left.

I was driving about with the light on/off for a few days, and when I did fill up, the tank took 54.50litres, so which meant I had a plastic irn-bru bottle worth of petrol left

Mine is usually extremely inaccurate!
It can go from 1/8 of a tank to the red light in as little as 5miles :(
But I usually just put a bit in in case :)

Is there anyway to make it more accurate as I've read on here previously that it is inaccurate..

Having ran both my zr and my zs110 out of fuel while driving from experiance there very very inaccurate! I usually work out that i can get 30miles ish to the gallon :)

do you mean to you run out of fuel because i think your 110 must have been ill to only get 30MPG thats 180 territory

I havent put any petrol in mine since i had it

In my 120's I've always used the same rule of thumb:
As soon as the light is on steady (I.E not flicking on and off as you go up/down hills etc) then there's enough left for 30 miles, 50 if you drive very, very, carefully.

I use that often and never run out yet!

Ive only had the light on once and deliberately ran it low to see if it was working,
heard that running the tank low puts all the crud at the bottom through the filter.
Thought Id made a massive mistake when I uprated the camshafts as car was starting to use way more fuel than before with normal driving but in about a week it's better than it was before ?
Put this down to having the full service done Fuel filter etc..
Is this the ECU learning to adapt to mods ?

The ZS's have a 55 litre tank and it's 8 litres left when the light stays on constant so in my 180 i'd look at getting 45 miles to running out with not changing my driving style!

I wont risk more than 10miles with the light on.

my petrol gauge is all over the place its so inaccurate. as soon as my light starts to flicker on i get gas pretty much straight away.

To be honest I think I've only seen my light once or twice in 2 1/2 years as I dont normally go below 1/4 tank.

Twice whilst driving, I have noticed my petrol guage dropping from around quarter full, right down to empty and then back to quarter in about 30 secs.

When the light stays on I dont push it anymore than 30miles.
I always put in ?30 at a time and when I have done 150 miles I know im running low. I did 80 miles on ?30 the other week and the light kept flicking on!!! was shocked! Normally get a good 28mpg though

I found the guage in mine was more inconsistent than inaccurate. With a full tank, it would do 120 miles before dropping to 3/4 full. But another 120 and it was at 1/4!! However, the last 1/4 would go at least another 100 miles before the solid warning light appears. The light never scares me anymore though as there always seems to be at least a good 30 miles left!

Is it still recommended these days not to let your tank run too low between refills? Story of dirt etc in the tank...
I have a long habit of going from completely full to almost completely dry and recording the volume so I can keep track of the mpg.

My petrol light has NEVER come on, so i can only assume the bulb has gone, as ive run it pretty dam low in the past.

They normally set most cars up so that that light comes on with just over a gallon left in the tank so around 30-40 miles usually.

Don't go too low too often as any crud or corrosion will give your fuel filter some real grief.

I bet both times you were mashing the peddle in the carpet.

Combination of fuel sloshing around the tank and the predictive gauge reacting to your driving.
