MGCC or MGOC ?

If so, which one ?
Or are they really only for the owners of older MG's ?

I almost jointed the MGOC and got the free edition of the mag... and it did look ok to be honest. A bit of the old stuff but a bit of the newer stuff too

The cost put me off though as all the member discounts are very much bias to people in England. There's not much on offer for the MG owner north of the border.

Neither has an online community like we have here though.

I've been to a few of their shows over they years and they are normally a good day out, but as you can imagine the "young yobs" in ZR's and ZS's get stuck in a corner away from all the "proper" MGs

LOL, i have never seen the point myself and all i know is that you get a magazine every month for being a member:blush: as like what Ross says, you dont get what we have on here or other forums which is where i think they have lost out on

Im not sure about the UK but in Australia you have to be a member of a car club for a track day/race licence so we have no choice, I don't get a lot out of our membership really, and most car clubs to get something out of it you really need to be actively involved in some form otherwise its just a bragging rights thing.

Not just MGOC, THE MGCC is the same,and its just not the "young yobs", its the "old yobs", as well, I'm a member of the MGCC, have been for a number of years, mainly because I used to have MGB's.

Unfortunatly never had the money for nice shiny ones, mine were rolling restoration projects, or just rusty!!! Went to a few meets but unless your in the clique you sit in the corner like a dummy.

The mags OK and if you have an older MG you have lots of specialist suppliers advertising and offers. I'm just too lazy to cancel my direct debit and it just rolls on.

MGOC seem bit friendlier, but never been a member of that one.

Think the MGCC are trying now to bring in the younger and newer members, by having the ZR/ZS/ZT web site and attending a lot more of the meetings.

Like everything else you get out what you put in, I should imagine that a lot of the MGCC members are like me, getting on a bit. Plus the cars themselves are getting on, saw a MGB behind me today, but you dont see them around like you used to. So to carry on, the clubs must look for new members and arrange meets like MG's on Track.

The guys that run the ZR/ZS/ZT register seem to be very enthusiastic about it. I see them quite regularly while following the MG Trophy about and they alway take the time to come say hello and ask how the touring car is getting on

They do try, they arranged a few laps round Brands last April during the lunch break.

Had to take that offer up, only trouble was the lead car wasnt going round that fast.

Magpie might be best to go to one of the local "natters" and introduce himself, might be best to go with a mate, so you dont feel like a new boy. I will post up the meeting places and dates.
