Hi guys.
Basically im looking at buying one of the above (mk2). I had a ZR 120 a couple of years ago and loved it to bits! since i've have had a BMW 320 coupe and currently a Celica. The thing is even though both the cars ive had since the ZR are built better and much quicker they just dont make my heart beat.

So my question is what do you guys think i should go for? Do I try anther MG model or go back to a ZR?

Is the ZS build quality superior to that of the ZR? And what am I likely to get mpg wise from a ZS?

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi,

The 180 is awsome and you get a lot of car for your money. Mpg is low to mid 20's in mine.

No not thrashing it. There are a few faults. Have a look in the buying guide.

On the 180 ..

Timming belts ?600-900 to replace.

Inlet manifolds rattle, new one ?500

Clutch hydraulics pop, Sheddist kit is a good cheap fix if you can get one.

ZS is better build than the ZR.

I can`t comment on the 180 as i currently drive a Mk2 110 model which is a cracking drive, its a proper little rev rat & goes really well! :)

On the ZR160 front i used to own one of these, mine was a early mk1 on a Y plate & have to say they are so underestimated & go like stink, however the build quality is`nt the best on them but if you can live with that then you`ve got yourself a nice little pocket rocket! ;)

If i`m honest though the ZS is the better car to drive out of the two, the ZR is like a little go kart, whilst the ZS is more touring car & handles like its on rails! :D
