One tyre bulging on the inside = Fail.

Advisories on one other nearing legal limit and the other 2 becoming out of shape.

The tyre hunt begins - but I've only got until 5pm for a free retest as I've got plans all weekend. There goes the idea for a Gold/White wheels/tyres package.

Tyres are an urgent fix for today.

Hankooks evo 12, on the front of mine, seem to be wearing well and are quite grippy.

Blame all the potholes for doing the tyres in.

Hope you beat the 5.o'clock deadline Dan.

No-one stocks a decent 205 45 17 unless its megabucks for run flats to go on a Mini !

Going to end up with budget 205 40s I think.

when i took my car for mot the other month i got 14 days for a free retest

if u really want to get a new set of wheels with tyres then why not just buy 1 205/45/17 at the cheapest price just to get its mot then get the wheel package in the next few weeks

What about part-worns? I got some for track use, nothing wrong with them and for ?30 a corner they do fine.

Well .....

Went for a full set of budgets. A wheel/tyre package would've come with budgets anyway.

I spent about 30 mins looking through reviews of budget tyres and decided on "Wanli" after reading 8 (out of 8) positive reviews. All of them came from drivers of regular mainstream cars - Focus Astra etc but to be honest - all I do is punt up and down the motorway rather than use the great handling the car has on offer round the twisties. They are a top rated Chinese tyre apparently. (I'd never heard of them).

Bit more digging on the net and got a set of 4 fitted for ?199. (?120 discounted off). So - the wheel tyre change is out the window.

Rang the MOT tester and he told me that I had 24 hours : since my test was at 9am, I've got until 9am tomorrow. I'll be down there at 8.30 and by 9 I'll be at home with a coffee and a brand new certificate.

Puts my spend on the ZS at about ?550 on service items so far, and another ?100 for the injectors and decat which I had hoped to get fitted next month. Might have to wait now until father's day .... Hmph.

get 10 days usually to bet the work done though if youve taken the car away may be different

That's it - 10 days if you leave the car at the testing station - 24hrs if you take it away.

All done ....

Placebo effect - but I'm sure the car is far smoother now and nicer to drive.

bet it does mate as tyres out of shape, one with a bulge aint going to ride as smooth as new tyres that have just been fitted and all balanced up
