Spent all of yesterday doing my engine bay thing, couldnt do anything about the boost hoses as i didnt have any in Silverstorm Purple, and theres some sort of scale on the bodywork i cant shift!!

But i did my best.

It had new PAS pump
New waterpump and housing
Set of Samco coolant hoses
Full set of Silverstorm coolant rails
A new header tank
New PAS tank
New stat, gaskets and bolts
New Red 5 year Coolant
New Pink screenwash
Some new bolts and nuts
The defunct dizzy cap removed and a 600 blanking plate inserted
Dipstick tube sprayed black satin
new turbo heatshield
and swapped the yellow oil cap for a black one. Few little tify ups and some brackets ground down to metal and sprayed satin black.

Sounds like a fun, sorted car, think I would have to trailer it to a track to drive it.

My dervs quick enough for me to collect points, think I would last a week with the power of your 400!!!

Looking good, some nice under bonnet detail going on.

Is the stepper motor not used with motec.

Do you still want the gear linkage pics, I'll do some if so:smile1:

I'm really liking the louvered bonnet as well, perhaps some stainless bolts for the cam covers etc.

Are the flames Vinyl I think personally it would look more Subtle and less out theyre without them Just my opinion though

Ho.Ly. Christ.

That's awesome.

So, just to get the engine right in my head, you've got a T series turbo with uprated turbo, forged internals, a charge cooling system AND an intercooler, and then someone went and hooked up a NOS kit, too. Crikey. Does it do time travel, too? It cant be that far off the speed of light...

Oh, if you do respray it, PURLEASE do it black, or at least a very dark grey. Amazing.

A difficult one to work with, owing to the low res and the high contrast between the blue and the silver paintwork, but here it is;

Its 30mm dropped on a Spax Coilovers :)

Has mirrored windows which suit the lairy ness, but id go a light smoke.

It wont be getting straights, im a Rota Dealer but i also have some BBS LMR split rims in the dining room, so itll be one or t'other.

God damn that looks good in black!!

I wonder how easy some facelift zs180 front wings would fit (could be moulded up to the lights.

As for a ZS replica. Im not really a replica fan. Its a Rover with a Rover engine, and im proud of that. If i had a ZS180, id be proud of that too, but theyre both cool in their own way :D

(i bed ill be going back on that in 6months time hahaha!)

Do you have the original photo from the camera that I could work on? Rather than the one that got shrunk and put on photobucket, would make the images look a million times better

Hi folks,

Few updates.

Car has had a new genuine cambelt, pulley and spring fitted.

A full service including Millers oil, genuine filter and bung, NGK grade 8 colder plugs.

Ran it on the dyno but id set up the gizzmo very badly so it didnt do too well, at 10psi it made 246hp which iirc was about 215@wheels, it had terrible boost oscilation at the mid setting of 22psi and was fluctuating between 15 and 20, it made 292hp by 4900 and then the run was aborted due to the terrible boost control.

Although im happy with what it made considering id hampered it, i believe the car could easily do 370+ at the hig boost setting 27/28psi.

Dash has been removed and a zs one fitted, and alot of the wiring has been redone properly, solder/ heatshrink, sheathing etc. And also a new alpine headunit fitted.

Also junked the clifford and had a toad fitted.

Fitted some PLX gear, master module ecu with 60mm multi function screen.

Linked to a boost module , egt module and sensor and an inlet temp module and sensor.

Also got a couple of auto meter oil pressure and temp defi style gauges to replace the old ones int eh a pillar pod.

Done lots of rewiriing, redone the battery to boot with new terminals and dissy block, and 0 gauge stinger cabling.

Ordered ?70 worth of tidy up kit like heatshrink, sheat convoluted tubing, relays and relay blocks, and fuses and fuse blocks. Im really enjoying rewiring it alll neatly and OEM.

remember this engine bay , because its about to look even better!!

Oh and i junked the nitrous, adding more power to a car that spins up in 4th if youre not careful and 3rd if you are just seems madness to me.

Also got rid of these:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/DSCF2012.jpg

And fitted some new oem ones. Ive removed the 400 dash and centre console, and fitted it with a zs mk1 item. I have polished ally rings to go round the heater dials and instrument clusters, a carbon gearknob and carbon pedals.

Ive sourced some 420 bubble gearlinkages, and am hoping my good friend Phil will work his magic and create a short shift that isnt as ***** as the motobuild one, and a fiesta uj and the box end, along with some Silverstorm poly bushes for it, and a silverstorm shifter extension to bring the gearknob 5" closer to the steering wheel!

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/DSCF20122.jpg

Ive also junked the Khan RSR wheels for some 17 x 7.5" BBS LM-R wheels. Fitted some oem ZS rear lights and removed the front light masks.

Pics to come when ive gotten a bit further on with it.

Trying to figure out what to do about seats, as the 400 uses different floorpan to the zs :(

Pics and details as promised:

OK, some pics and a little context.

First of all , the car came with no stereo, when i removed the centre console, the wiring was a little...interesting:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2083.jpg

So i bought a chopped stereo loom off ebay and set about soldering and heatshrinking:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2084.jpg
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2085.jpg

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2088.jpg

The original pale grey dash with wood inserts really wasnt in character with the car, so i won a zs mk1 dash with inserts, and doorcadrs for 99p. And an armrest for ?20. Carbon Civic type R gearknob for , and tegiwa shifter extension to bring the knob closer to the steering wheel for spirited driving. The extension wont be fitted until i get the 420 linkage Ross supplied me , down to Pill-Tech for a milder short shift (the one on the car was too short) and UJ mod. The linkage that was ont he car was cut and shut and had alot of flex. But anyway this is what the dash and centre console look like now:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2099-1.jpg

Those eagle eyed viewers will spot the chrome rings around the heater dials, i also have some for the instrument cluster. A vast improvement over the original 416 dash :

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2080.jpg
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2079.jpg

Also you may have noticed the new A Pillar defi style Autometer gauges, had to mod the brackets and the gauge holder to get them to fit, as theyre designed for a cup dash stand. Old:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2095.jpg

New:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2097.jpg

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2099-1.jpg

Also replaced the meagre 4 awg battery to boot cable with 0 gauge, the old is red, the new blue:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2047-1.jpg

A job ive been slowly doing is neatening up the engine bay, this consists of in the main, a new ERL kit where all the gubbins sit in the boot, moving the Motec to the suspension turret for now, it will go in car soon, moving a new SPL distribution block into the lower corner of the bay on a chassis rail, and removing the sort of platform that filled the right side of the bay.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/DSCF20122.jpg

How it was with the motec, dimdip resistor, aquamist, coilpack and other bits on a rusty platform.

Ive removed the gas for now which helps. I have now bought an HFS3 waterinjection system with standalone ecu where the majority of the bits sit in the boot, the motec will be moved as said, and the battery to boot dissy block now sits in the corner, im only halfway through but you get the jist of where its going:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2104.jpg

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2110.jpg

Also fitted a fuel pressure gauge to the SYTEC FPR:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2092.jpg
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2091.jpg

Last but not least, a couple of pics with the headlight masks removed, the BBS alloys fitted and the OEM ZS lights fitted, please excuse the lack of skirts but until the majority of the work is done, the aftermarket skirts will stay off:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2046.jpg
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Cooptub/Rover400BHP/DSCF2045.jpg

Next is to finish the neatening of the bay, until i have the money to have it done professionally and make all the wiring as short, neat and tidy as possible. Ive also got a relay block housing that will hold 4 relays , sort of OEM with a clear cover. To tidy up the 3 relays you can see on the right hand inner wing of the bay.

you kno what without the skirts it looks a load better think u shud leave em off completley

Edit: My personal opinion is you shud do something with those awful tailpipes they really bring the the genral look of the rear end down a lot

Thats quite the engine, but Im not surprised you're rewiring the whole thing if that butchered stereo loom is anything to go by. And 0awg for the battery... hefty lol.
I agree with bobdope2002, you need to do something about that rear end - its got a very 90s fast and furious on a budget look about it, which the car thoroughly doesnt deserve.
