Well im off tomorrow to see a ZS TD MK2.

So can anyone Diesel tell me what too look out for? If theres a common problem is there anything i can do to see if its faulty. ( MAF) ?

If i end up with a TD, What would a Decat, stainless exhaust, Airfilter (bmc, ITG ) SDI injectors, remap bring BHP wise? Is there anything else that can be done?

First diesel on the cards so a little uneducated on them. :)

MAF was the only thing for mine mate. Just make sure it revs smooth all the way to 4500 rpm. Any hesitancy, or it feels a bit strangled and it may be a MAF problem. Use it as a big bargaining tool, but in reality, my replacement cost me ?55.

As for the mods - I've got them all in the shed. Don't know what difference it'll make. I've read a few threads on .org etc and they have 15-20 for the SDis alone. I reckon 140 with your bits and then another 15 ish with a remap, so I reckon about ?450 will get you to around 150bhp.

I'm not sure now if I'll fit it all to be honest so if you do buy it, I've got some very clean looking SDi injectors and a brand new stainless decat if you want them. My car's running just fine without them and returning just under 50mpg.

You are far to young to be buying a diesel lol

ramdonice

Sdi's
Decat
Boost upper to 19psi
Remap

Will be around 150 bhp and 250 lbft and still get the same mpg as before If not better unless you floor it

Air filter makes hardly any difference

My old 45 had 157 bhp and 260 lbft when I had it on the rollers

Not a lot

Rough guide
Remap 200
Sdi's 50
Decat 50
Up boost free

So for 300 quid you have a diesel that does go and can keep up with zs180 I know as I used too lol

yep my van can keep up with my ZS lol, and also it would cost double if not more to get 40bhp extra into the 180's

Don't forget, sounds like a tractors!!!

But ?125 road tax, cheaper insurance, few tweaks, do go well and get 50 mpg.

No vis or manifolds, thermostats, dodgy clutch systems, etc, etc.;);););)

Hope its a good one, just check the clutch doesn't slip when you floor it in 3 or 4, as Dan says, should rev up through the box as quick as you can change gear up to 3.

Make sure all the locks work on the key fob and the alarm seems OK, if its a MK2, make sure treads OK on the front tyres, inside edges. Belts should be done.

Well Its a lovely car! One of the best original cars iv saw.

All seemed good and genuine.

ATC rear Elec windows, good tyres, twin spoilers.

Only bad thing was and its a majour one, its the reason i never got the car. It was sold, on finance. Hes going to give me a call if it falls through. :)

Oh no .... Nightmare !

Still - Finance falling through is a regular thing these days.

And ..... As I've got a full leather interior to go into mine - I may have an interior for you too ..... ;)

Well considering I still haven't actually had a map..... I've got 157bhp, and we know that 146 came from the SDi's, cat and airfilter oh oand the roose pipes.... that was all in 2010. the SS system and outlet pipes are 2011 mods, they got me an extra.

Nope ain't that one. This has the kit on it

Pick it up Saturday all being well :) and the 120's being traded in.

One thing to check are the bleed pipes, they tend to perish and throw derv out.

They are on top of the engine by the injectors. All link across the engine and back into the derv supply.

Got new pipes for my one (54 reg) just got to get round to fitting them. Just pull on, pull off.

As always, there is one difficult bit that may require removal of one of the metal pipes that goes across the engine, (thats why I've left my one).

Must do it before Zed10, or I know what will happen!!!!

:wizard::wizard::wizard:

Why? is that a common fault of some kind?

I love the missus 115, very nice car but I don't get anywhere near 50mpg though.

peterzs
13-07-11, 01:36 PM
Dont know, but when I got my one, had to have the front tracked and it was out by quite a bit.

Did the tyres in, still plenty of tread but edges had gone.

Seem OK on the Evo 12's

I dont get 50 either!!

put them on your car and you wont reget it, mpg will improve to as you used a higher gear/lower revs as you have more torque

For what you will get for it Dan, think I would keep the decat and fit it when you can.

Is this because of new rules???

Been through 3 since decatted, without any probs.

Yea its the new rules thats coming in which is a right pain,At least i kept my cat so it can be swapt over when it comes into the mot.

Ive had my decat fitted for two mots with no mention of it.
