As title suggests, I have noticed that the 1.6l mk2 110's are holding their value much better against the mk2 180's and so similar spec/mileage etc seem to go for a similar price.
So it appears to me that as I want a mk2 180 and Kat and I have decided that we don't do enough mileage between us to warrant having a 110 AND 180 I want to see what kind of spec mk2 180 people would be interested in trading for.

So, below is the spec and things I have done to our 110, if you are genuinely interested in a straight swap downgrade (for petrol consumption or whatever) please provide similar details as I have for a fair comparison.

Cheers.

MK2 MG ZS 110 saloon in Rio Red
Full MK2 bodykit and wheels
69k miles
Full years MOT
6 months tax
Had its full service just weeks ago along with the all important belts changed.
No headgasket signs, coolant level always sits just below half.
I have repaired pretty much every issue I have found with the car as its previous owner was clearly not an MG lover. This can be seen by the bodywork flaws which are the usual pepper of chips on the front and rear wheel arches but also there is a 1" dent on the bonnet and a bit of lacquer peel is evident in a few spots. There is absolutely no rust on the car and I have looked thoroughly!
Things I have done to the car include:

Arm rest replaced
Tightened handbrake.
Rear lights will be back to original
Fixed bottom front grille as was off its clips...now secure!
Front fogs installed but not hooked up
Spray centre console silver to match vents
Heatshield fitted
Repaired major bumper sag (slight crack where sag had put pressure on it)
Resistor pack replaced, blowers all working
Vinyl on front splitter in matte black
Xenon bulbs
Switch to Citroen washer jets

There were other bits that I sorted out like broken vents and non reclining passenger seat but I think you get the jist, I have tried to improve the car as much as I could to be happy with it!

All in all, its an excellent car and will give many happy miles with the belts being done, interested to see what there is on offer of a MK2 180 :)

Cheers Pete, yeah its an excellent car, handles well and running smooth engine wise with the new belts, feels like a much newer car to drive.

I maybe should have mentioned that if cash was required plus a 180, I would be open to discussion on it :)

Did have a light hearted chat about it. Not sure how serious he was though. Will see him at Marcus wedding do so he can see the car if he was interested?!

Yeah, it's a difficult one. I'm halfheartedly looking at reducing my car bills as well. I have toyed with the idea of swapping my 180 for a cheaper-to-run clone, but it's not easy to make that kind of decision :)

well Nor, your car does also look awesome :) I'd struggle to part with it!
The one thing I would say, and hopefully other 110 owners will agree, that the engine is quite sporty and revs happily up to 6k and sounds good for it. And thats without induction or exhaust notes to hear.

Thought I'd resurrect this thread as I am currently down south so if anyone down this was was interested in swapping cars, noes a good time. On my return to Scotland, it will be going up for sale to get my 180. If money needs to trade hands then let me know too.

Oh tempting as I will prob be after a car come the winter ice. Do I swap mine or sell it as could do with the cash as the missus wants to tie the knot (round my throat that is!! lol)

Although its a stunning 110.

Always loved your car Jay, especially when it had the NOS and vinyls! Didn't it get a new engine when the NOS got canned lol?

I remember Murray was selling at a very low price as I almost had the cash together before you bought it. And you've defo done it proud too.

Yer got a bill for the work done on engine and other bits that's more than I paid for the car!! Lol well worth it though!

So why are you thinking of selling it after all the work/money put in to it!
