.... didn't work on the way home from work ....

Any ideas ? ........... And I don't mean how to make a loud noise to warn other road users of my presence .....

Water ingress id assume my 180s horn never worked properley

Water ... seriously ... it's been 200 degrees FFS !

my sounder box was full of water enough to fill an egg cup with so....

The sounder box is for my alarm BTW and its situated underneath the header tank

does it click when you press the horn Eg the relay trying to work??

Yes ....

sounds as if it maybe goosed then

although.......saying that sometimes mine wudnt work for ages then id come to press it going round a blind bend and it would work.....

To take it off is a bumper off job though which is a PITA

not the sounder that does the horn,
the horn sits behind the front bumper and the original horn was pretty poor,
first thing id do is check the fuse, if its okay go to the horn

remove it and try power it off the battery, if you **** your pants when you touch the wires onto the battery then horns not the problem, if nothing need a new horn,

if horns okay check for power at the connector for the horn, test lamp and someone pressing the horn,

The horn on my car has died, but it isn't the factory one it is the secondary Hi tone horn from a 420 that is intermittent, even though the factory horns were crap and failed mine is still going after 7 years!!!

Cheers ritchy - will have a butchers at the fuse tomorrow. i take it the fuse only looks after the horn, nothing else ?

I went through two horns due to water ingress, i ended up getting a PIAA twin tones and fitted em further back out of harms way
