hi guys, im starting to get things together for a turbo conversion.
Just want to know if a engine and lsd box from a 220 would be ok to use?
Obviously id have to put the 620 alloy sump on and use 420gsi mounts, but if you could answer this for me would be really greatfull

The 220 bits should be fine but make sure you get the loom as well.

Why do you want to change the sump?

thought i needied loom fron 420 as it is a direct fit/connection?

Yeah, Dan (carmadbaker) did a really good build thread

Alloy sump is needed for the lower engine stabiliser when converting a zs to T16

I don't know about connecting the engine loom to the car loom but there are only a few wires to connect.

IIRC the different models have different looms but the sensors are the same.

Even if you don't eventually use it I still think it would be worth getting the loom when you get the engine.

And why the 620 sump?????

I have a montego 8V nasp sump on the rover vitesse (820 tubby) engine in my T16 maestro, the sump from the O series, the M series and the T series share the same bolt pattern APART from the 620, you'd need to drill new holes to fit it.

as pete saiys above "Alloy sump is needed for the lower engine stabiliser when converting a zs to T16"

If the engine has the aircon pump I'd keep the A/C, the heat exchanger is only thin.

I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to convert the sump.

??????
unless i buy a 620 engine. Am sure i can come up with a way of engineering a way round it, Being on of HRH's finest and that lol, ill figure it out when i get there lol

You can't convert a tin sump to accept the lower stabiliser, well you can but it wont last 5 minutes lol

I'll prob just tap the block if the sump holes are slightly bigger, or just put plenty of that sump sealant on ( name of which is escaping me at the mo). Wnt be a problem
