Old fuel does go "off" a bit, but mixed with some fresh stuff will be fine.

Fuel loses it's octane as it gets older, it's thought that anything over 6 months old is past it's sell by date but as Pete says, you can mix it with fresh stuff.
Even if it's been sitting about a year? And 50/50 mix?

Used to do all our H&S, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, COSHH sheets for all the goodies or Baddies.
Best one was for Mole killing, used cyanide tablets, so lethal, my Risk Assessment, was to call in specialists contractors. That was after putting a couple of our guys through a course of putting the pellets in, using a long dispenser. If the tablets got wet would let off cyanide gas!!!!!!
Maybe pouring the old petrol down their holes, would work on the lovely, cuddly moles!!!!!!!
