Late Vauxhall Omega 2.5, 2.6 CDi or MV6 would be my choice. Or a ZT perhaps but £2k might not get a good one? What sort of car are you looking towards?

I would go for luxury car like Jaguar S type, Mercedes C class, BMW 5 series or Vauxhall Omega as Mick says, if you want something a little different then try a Lexus or Volvo. You could get a 75 or ZT but you are looking at a juicy V6 or BMW diesel which btw do have their own quirky issues. Your best bet is to go and test drive a couple of each of them (you may come across a bad one of each) and see how you get on.

ZT V6 auto would be my recommendation. Very cheap these days. Mine was a great cumfy motor - (just the colour got to me a bit - Bittersweet).

Great spec available and decent MPG on a run if you go easy.

What sort of mileage are you doing ?

test drove a 9.5 today and a zt liked the saab but not a fan of the styling zt was good except it had manifold rattle that the garage tried to tell me was the purge valve so walked away
