Ive got a thing about really really really wanting a mk2 180.

My mk1 is mechanically spot on, just needs a bit of paint on some plastics where I have pressure washed the laquer of and it will be as good as you will find on a car of this age.

Ive spent the last 8 years making a lotus 7 rep from scratch. ie bought the steel in 6 meter lengths and made it. Now its finished I have no interest in puting it on the road. One is the cost of around a grand just to have it tested and registered and two I have two lads and will only get the odd weekend out in it like I did my bikes. I also hate bugs So not ideal being open toped :smile2:

I need a new project and want to charge / engine swap a 180.

Am I mad to sell it or both at a HUGE loss just to get the same car I allready have in a posh frock and a newer reg ????????????????????????????

What do you lot think ?

Ps the wife hates it and says she wont go out in it and thinks the idea of me getting rid is great if she aslo gets as newer runabout out of it aswell.

Looks good, what engine did you put in it???

Shame to do all that work and not track it.

Thats an other option, keep both and get a trailer. My 180 would be also good as a track car.

It's a 2L zetec (http://youtu.be/BKqeCjdBM0w)

I like my zetec's Ive made the inlet manifold ect and my specialty is wiring up ecu's. Ive done Dta, Omex, Megasquirt, Megajolt and others inclueding the oem ecu's found in fords.

Infact I can get an engine to run any ware.

I am on the look out for a cheap kv6 to do a charged bench kv6 like my early zetecs.

Keep it and track it, you will live to regret selling it after putting so many hours, blood, sweat and tears into it.

So yes you are mad to even think about selling it!

Have you raced it yet? I marshal loads of sprints, would be good to see it out!

If you love the project but not the finished article then sell it. Next time though pick something that will make you money! :-)

Raced it, no.
It's done about 15 miles on private farm roads.

It's been a great hobby and kept me out of the house whilst the wife has her soaps on.

The loss I would make still makes it a cheap hobby over 8 years.

Anything with tits or wheels will cost you money.

funny my dad told me the same thing in a more polite way years ago.....

i think you are probablyfoolish to change the mk1 for a mk2 - but that is just me :)

Nothing wrong with fancying a change .... Looks wise I think the Mk2 has it over the Mk1 and they are becoming just as cheap ....

If it were me in your position, I'd keep the project - and sell the Mk1 or trade it for a Mk2 with someone who needs some cash.

No, not mad. Mad to not want a MK2 180 IMO.
