Mmm, not too sure to start with but as will all things car related its all down to your own views.
It is quite an impressive look but just not certain.

Well done though mate, would never have thought of something like that myself ;0)

Looks awesome, nothing wrong with that colour but needs matching LED sides to pull it together. Did you mount the bulbs at the top of the metal inner to the gill?

I would need to light up all the gills but what a great concept. Would go well with my centre console LEDs!

Grimmy, we could red gill buddies!

Nice, nothing wrong with a bit of extra lighting, plus nothing wrong with putting your own stamp on YOUR car, as long as you like it, who give's a flying **** :w00t::w00t:

Thanks for all the comments good and bad, but it was just a quick thing that I did 2 weeks ago, I ordered some blue SMD LED's 30cm long strip solder some wires and stuck them on, really easy to do, but getting my sausage fingers through the slats was a bit tricky.

.....Just a shame you didn't get all the way to the front of the fins!

Yeah, I know it doesnt go all the way to the front, just the strip wasnt long enough, will order some more longer strip, but as I say it was a quick mod.

if i would do it on my black car
i would make it orange so when the turn signal turns on it also will flash from the shark grill :)

Like the idea but not sure tbh. Rozzers will probably pull you for it being blue and not amber as it is a sidelight.

midcuk
02-04-12, 11:39 AM
i do like it was on my list of to do, along with led rings in the tail lights, did you just wire them in to the sidelights ?.

any further away shots kev?

if i where to wire mine id wire tem off the interior light just so they came on when unlocking or opening the doors, as pointed out would be illegal to drive with them

that would be how id wire them up aswell

Maxxed_Ross
02-04-12, 01:46 PM
on it's own switch would probably be the only legal way

Ritchy
02-04-12, 02:01 PM
interior light doesnt come on when your driving so would be fine, be the same as the puddle lights you can get under mirrors(something else id thought about)

stamford
02-04-12, 03:02 PM
You could always have two sets, one for show and when the main lights come on they switch from blue to amber as a default.

Looks great mate, I'd have never thought of it. Mite have a bash myself, I'd have green though I think.

talkingcars
02-04-12, 05:55 PM
IIRC it can be any colour as long as you can't see the light source.

My plan with my T16 maestro is some lighting tricks but it'll all be wired so it is for "off road use only",
I have a remote control switching unit put away somewhere with 4 switched channels............:punk:

I'm sure any funky lighting is illegal... that's why undercar neons are illegal

Like I said IIRC if you can't see the light source it is ok, other wise there would be problems with interior lighting.

Don't quote me on this but i think any funky lighting is illegal to have on whilst driving! Supposed to be for display purposes only and possibly disconnected whilst driving??!!

I'm sure that's right. Iirc neons are supposed to be wired into handbrake so they're not distracting other road users, same as DVD headunits etc

I'd say that it probably is legal enough if it's not visible from the rear which it would be. Red would probably be fine as I doubly it will be seen from the front.

On the down side, it's an excuse to get pulled over and then it could be a ticket for various other things like HIDs, illegal reg font, sidelight out, or anything they could ticket you for.

KevG
02-04-12, 09:54 PM
Bloody plod, esp. traffics I hate them!

Blair I were up your way at night and you seen these and IF you didnt know me, would you pull me?

Smokey
02-04-12, 10:28 PM
Yes I would if I'm honest! Wouldn't give a ticket for it unless your attitude was bad lol

Maxxed_Ross
03-04-12, 05:37 AM
I've had that happen before... when it turns out they can't give you a ticket for the original issue they go over the whole car trying to find something they can give you a ticket for - and my attitude has always been fantastic when stopped.

Power trip usually comes to mind... espicially the night a cop asked me how a young guy like me could afford a car like this. Next time I'm going to say I'm a porn star.
