Well after the clean and polish yesterday, thought Id start to fit my VIS tester.

Printed off the installation guide.

1.Disconnet battery.......................EASY
2.Remove the switch cover.............EASY
3.Unbolt expansion tank.................EASY
4.Allow access to grommet, pierce with screwdriver and feed cable through.......................................EASY
5.Pull cable through to behind the switch...F***ing hard work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The grommet comes through above the throttle pedal. So to even see the wire coming through you got to get on your back, and get your head up by the pedals. Then once wire found, almost no room to grab to pull through. Once I had pulled wire through, mmmmmmmmmmm how does one get it from the grommet to the hole in dash where switch cover was????
There is practically no space behind the dash , main loom, sound deadening. I took the inner fuse box cover/cubby tray off to expose bit more space.
Decided to use an old metal coathanger and push it through until it came out by the grommet. Sellotaped the wire and slowly pulled coat hanger back. This got wire to infront of inner fusebox. Then with much swearing and knuckle scrapping managed to get it to the back of hole. Then with a pair of longnose pliers pulled it thorugh and pushed it onto back of indicator. Put indicator into switch hole and pulled excess cable back into engine bay.

Phew hard work. Just got to wire it up now..........:fun:

May be doable at this Anglia meet if we both make it and the weather is kind.

Could always come to the East Anglia meet in Peterborough on 23/9, and do it then?

Cheers

Next problem.................Went to wire it it up, now I know i can use either black wire. There is no f*****g slack in the loom, the wires are so thin, im having hard work taking the plastic covering off. Took me 35 mins just to manage to do one! Im giving up and getting an autoelectrician......................

I was down your way last week, on my way to Cardiff. Could have diverted to have a ZS fix........ Not sure the next time Im down with the car, seeing as I can get to and from Cardiff for only £28 by bus.

But will keep it in mind, if I dont get it fixed by a sparky.

Right Jay...........Witht he help of a friend, have wired up the tester. However, following the instructions on the paperwork, it looks like one of my lights isnt coming on?

To make sure its crimped properly, if I show you which light isnt working, can you tell me what wire that is?

That will be the red wire on the Vis loom. Does the red balance light go out on the Vis indicator?

Yep. Have both REDs on, then as I floor it only the power green ligh comes on, with both Red lights going off. Then as the guide says the red lights come back on as the revs rise.
