Another of the BX54KG* series, first owner will be MGRover.

Claiming it's a BMW engine is a change, it's normally Honda.

He forgot to add that he cut a hole in the front bumper for the cold air feed
or why the bonnet doesnt close at the top.
I do actually like the black on blue though.

Looks like bonnet lifters, as for why, who knows?

But the black on blue looks really good tho...

Ummm, I suppose technically they were ALL BMWs around that time (no I'm not convinced either)!!!
Looks nice enough, but if I was in the market the stench of BS would put me off that one.

:smartass:Hi
Nice looking car but sorry to disappoint you, assuming the picture of the engine is of the one in your car then it is a "Not the usual rubbishy mg rover k series". The four cylinder engines are known as K4 and the V6 is a K series V6 so called the KV6. It also has a Rover PG1 gearbox and everything else is Rover as well. The ZT has a lot of BMW bits although the petrol engines are all K4 or KV6.

Also the suspension is all MG/Rover - a design team from Rover spent £10m completely redesigning the suspension so it isn't the same as the earlier Honda of a similar shape.

Only letting you know before you sell the car and the buyer then pulls out because the description is wrong.

Good Luck.

James

This car is based on a Honda type r chassis with fully independent suspension making it a superb handling car like the integra type R, and the engine is a BMW built kv6

There is an element of true in the blurb, the KV6 did have some input from BMW not a lot, it is a true Rover engine, but the only BMW bit on it is the inlet plenum I think, thats why we all have problems with the inlet manifolds!!
As for the chassis well NOT really a Type R chassis is it, just an old Honda Civic/Domini!!

My wiring on the MK2 has BMW written on it lol.

Thats correct Blair, all the facelifts(Mk2's) came with a mixture French (Valeo), German (BMW) and Japanese (Honda) switchgear, wire harness's etc, BMW subcontracted LEONI (http://www.leoni.com/?L=1)to make all the harness for Rover when they were in charge, and this followed onto all the facelift models too, after BMW sold Rover to those 4 idiots.

All that aside I like the look of the car, don't think he'll get what he wants for it tho with over 130k on the clock, it's not that much different to any other mk2 that's been debadged at the rear.
If I was going to cut a hole I would of done it higher too, think there could be some water ingress if it's pi55ing down :)

Did you get a reply from him?

I remember arguing with a dealer when I was buying my first 200 coupe. He kept trying to tell me that it was a Honda engine with a rover badge... Eventually with some persuading from my friend he backed down and realized I knew more about the car than he did. Luckily I really wanted the car otherwise I would have walked away, got a good price in the end tho.

Actually it was Cosworth that reworked the engine for Rover

Not really, the KV6 use cylinder blocks made by COSCAST
