The Italian Job, the original (of course).
Look how well it stands up today for a film made in 1969.
British. Brilliant.

Just remembered the one in the blues brothers that's classic as well.think that held the world record for most cars crashed in a film for decades.

I quite like the chase from the "Fast Five" when they're pulling a safe, even though it's not real, but in the end, what film chase is?

Did you know that all the engine and tyre sounds the Trans Am made were dubbed on? They came from a car used in the 1971 film Two Lane Blacktop. That does have a proper quick car in it!!

Serious!! The actual Trans Am used was a 6 cylinder budget model painted up to look like the top model but sounded pants!! The engine sounds used for the over dub was a tuned Chevy 454 V8 with open headers!!
The car that it was fitted into would run low 11's on the strip!!

Agreed although there are to many gear changes from the 3 speed auto boxes if you are picky!!

No
But if you are a car nut like me it's a bit silly to watch my 2 favourite American cars being driven fast but hearing them change up 6 or 7 times in the same sequence!!

Exactly the same point I made about the fast movies just cause they have more gears makes it just as stupid.

Dodge Charger uuuummmmm sweet

weren't that the film where they we v6 models that sounded like v8's?

they do it all the time with bikes, Hollywood thinks every bike sounds like a jap in line 4 even if its a twin or triple lol.

My choice has to THE ITALIAN JOB & BULLITT. Italian job cos its my alltime fav fav fav film, but the chase in Bullitt was not cleared by the local police. It was done "live" and who can forget the driver. King of Cool Steve McQueen, and he did almost all the driving himself.

Mind you for an outside bet, and a scary one.....No one has yet said "DUEL"

Talking about the Fast movies. I still laugh my b...s off when the cop is flat out in the Mitsi Eclipse then hits the Nitrous and takes off!! What?? Who writes this garbage? If the engine is flat out hitting the gas ain't going to make it go faster!! It would just go bang!!
Then there is this whole 10 second car stuff!! Having built and run lots of cars over the years I know how hard it would be to get a modded road going car to do a 10 second 1/4!!
Most hyper cars struggle to achieve that.

As far as I know the cars in Bullit were V8. The Charger would have had 375 bhp and the Mustang around 325 iirc. The performance of the two was similar due to the Fords lighter weight.

Steve did his own driving yes. I like the bit where he over cooks it on one of the corners. He realizes he'd fluffed it up so to get back on track he sticks the Ford into reverse and lets all 300 horses out!! I love watching that back axle tramp from county to county!!

it did though... the floor fell out - and the welds on the intake for some unknown reason :nugget:

It didn't exactly go bang though, it just sort of smoked and then managed to outrun the cops!!

Why cut a hole in the floor then bolt a plate over the hole? That's just asking the plate to fall out. lol

I'v never seen welds in cast inlets myself so can't comment but it sounded stupid.

I know it's not necessarily a chase but always loved the scene in the movie which I think was called the driver where Ryan O'Neill deconstructs an orange mercedes.it's the same scene you have to do in the original driver game to show your worth.

The original Gone in 60 Seconds, Vanishing Point & Bullet for their sound track alone!

Smokey & the Bandit films pretty good.

Nothing wrong with Convoy if you like your engines just a little bigger!

Having owned 1 Rover V8 SD1, a C4 Corvette & 5 TVR's over the years, I must admit I am a tad partial to the attributes & sound of a nice V8 engine!
