So today I did a bit of work on the black mk2 180. It has a rattling plenum at the moment and I thought I could swap the one from the track car since the engine blew up and the inlet/vis motors were newly fitted by Kev.

Sadly, it was full of oil/coolant mix, a piece of black plastic was rattling inside it and when I moved the actuator arm, it was ridiculously stiff so I'm guessing it's fooked!

So, since I was motivated, I decided to tackle another couple of issues that have bothered me. Firstly, the water in the spoiler. (Quick question, could this leak in to the boot causing the puddle in the wheel well (got the bits needed to fix bumper sag and seal known areas but wondered if this could be the cause?)) I loosened the spoiler screws and this happened!

Another niggle that was bugging me was the console switches. As some will know, I went full on custom and wiring was a biatch! I managed to get everything working except the front fogs would come on when the car was started so I had to remember to switch them off immediately.

Then there was the issue of tell tale lights for the fogs as my switches light up when lights are on. I tried working out a circuit to choose between always on or tell tale only (MOT compliant) but I didn't have enough bits to do it but I did have spare LEDs so went and fitted them instead so all works perfectly.

The LEDs are way too bright (at night it looks like I'm filming for Top Gear!) so will be fitting stronger resistors at some point (don't use fogs often anyway!)

My next plan is to rip it out once more, remove the carbon vinyl, sand it smooth again, as still things that bug me, then spray it silver to match the vents.

So, bored yet? Here are some pics, PC not switched on, hence the blue screen:

Oh yea a bit bright! Blue screen of death any other time. I quite like the carbon effect.
