After my accident recently, I took my car back to my local garage who repaired the car by putting two new ball joints on and reassembling everything else (which he assured me was all ok).
Paid the man and left, took my car back to him to swap some tyres around onto some better alloys I picked up.
His machine to take the tyres off conked out so he put the nsf wheel back on and I went straight to the local tyre place for tracking and balancing done.
Man comes up and says 'can't do your tracking mate, your tie rod end is bent'. So he suggested I get this fixed elsewhere. Then he proceeded to take my nsf wheel off only to find the retard at my local had threaded some of the nuts. He put some new nuts on my car for me and I got a tie rod end from parts place (and caliper) and booked car in at new said garage (as recommened).
Following day took car in to new garage, left it with them. I returned and the bloke said that my local garage had put the wrong ball joints on.
Now I'm really pi55ed off!!!
Went back to my local and he is now saying it was the part co. at fault as they sent through the wrong parts. I told him I don't care who is at fault and he needs to get the parts money back to me along with the labour costs to put these on as I will have to pay the new garage to put them on.
He's also saying that the tyre place must of taken the nuts off wrong and threaded them (don't know how that's possible) even though this is what their speciality is??
Annoyed is an understatement!!!!!!!!!!

Claiming it's the part supplier's fault is total ballcocks, it's the garages responsibility to check the parts are correct, I'm assuming they fitted the balljoints with the smaller taper, but how they didn't notice a problem is beyond me, the right ones are visually a lot beefier, and I didn't think the small ones would fit the tapered hole in the lower arm properly.

What a horrid story, makes you wonder if its all down to the first garage's bad workmanship.

Lucky the tyre guy spotted it, think I would have shaken his hand.

When I had my clutch done, went to pick it up, found the garage owner filing the threads on one of the wheel studs. Too quick on the air tools, dont even bother to start the nuts off.:no::no:

This stripping of threads bugs the hell out of me, there is no need for it. As Pete said it just shows they use a gun all the time. The worst mechanics always do. I knew one who would use an air ratchet all of the time regardless of what he was doing.

Yeah I think I will just go to Trading Standards anyway now just so this sort of thong can't happen to anyone else!

Give him a few days to refund the money, then go to trading standards and any garage association that he may belong to.

Also name and shame here.

This,

Is it properly sorted yet? If not I'll come over and we'll sort it out together.

ALSO: Did not take the nuts off properly? Best excuse I have heard in a long time.

Air guns are nasty.............We get so many people at work who have had a tyre replaced and then when they wanted to take wheel off, found that the stud was cracked. Too much reliance on air guns to do nuts up. Spanner and a torque wrench.
Can be a right pain on certain vehicles when the wheel stud isnt available on its on, for ex. Ford Mondeo 2000-2008, the rear studs come only with a new hub!!

Id like to see it done with a spanner and torque wrench lol :p I usually use a socket

First time I took my off my NSF, a stud fell off. Cheers airgun!

He wasn't there today. Surprise surprise. I will get my money back and I will report him as well as I don't want anything to happen to someone else!!
Also when the 'new' garage did the correct ball joints today they told me he hadn't done the top suspension mount up properly either........the guy is a F**king liablilty!

All sorted now tho, and I see what people have been saying about the Yoko's in the wet........not very good at all.

One last thing to do is to replace the outer track rod ends, but they are not at a dangerous level at the moment so will wait until I get paid!!
