Thought I'd ask, let the debate begin - constructive please ;)

standard cat
sports cat
de-cat

the differences the way up.....

p.s my mate said going to a de-cat gave you less top end but more lower down the rev range - is this true cos it doesnt sound right to me

Yes I'd be very interested to know what the sports cat is like, for if I get the manifolds in the new year

it'd only just pass the MOT, decat would be fine if not for the visual inspection they have to carry out now
my sports cat will be kept as will need for MOT, however if the decat is going to be an improvement I will fit that in the time between

A decent sports cat will flow slightly less than a de-cat, but I doubt you would notice the difference.

Worth having just for MOT time, mine always passed no bother

I notice more power top end with my decat James and I had the original cat modified for mot time ;)
The decat is a lot cheaper too, and sounds pretty good!

fitting my decatt gave me over 10 bhp and saved me fuel. and often get over 400 miles out of a tank now

What???? You can't be talking about a 180 surely. Unless you drive very very frugely everywhere. I'm confused, the most I have had is 370, and that was on a run and driving conservatively!

definitely a 180! got over 450 out of a tank last week. using high octane fuel, going 60mph got a magnet fuel thing on too. Now ive got a scanguage ive been trying to find the best speed for mpg, going 70mph its saying im doing 40-45 mpg.

thats not possible steve, only things that can change your revs are gear ratios , and wheel / tyre size.

I found mine seemed to idle a tiny bit lower with a sports cat, but as above engine revs and speed are directly linked... so there's no way changing the exhaust can affect it

why do you want to swap your decat?

I don't like it :) lol I preferred both my previous cars with Sports cats...

std exhaust setup on Blue ZS
sports cat with powerflow system on typhoon (if it gets running again)

do have a decat now, toying with swapping from sports cat to decat, but re-fitting sports cat come MOT time
