I have seen a few other threads about this but thought I'd stick this one up anyways..

Yep, my clutch is quite high and I believe this is normal (1.6) and it is sometimes hard to get into reverse, which again sounds normal. But mine sometimes is hard to get into first and third, it will always go in after 1 or 2 attempts, but was wondering if I might have identified a small issue early that might save dollar later before it gets worse??

Oh, it never slips out of gear and it pulls away just fine, I read a couple of threads about a part you buy for a freelander which sometimes cracks near the clutch?

How is it when the car is off? If its okay when not running id suspect the clutch isnt clearing enough and dragging the gears. If its the aame with the engine on or off then may find its too thick an oil in the box causing too kuch drag on the synchro. A thinner oil like automatic transmissikn fluid may recify this. Reverse gear being tricky to get in is fairly normal as your pulling the reverse idler into mesh and youll often find it may not be exactly lined up meaning its hard to get into gear. Im

oh, and what is the 'what is it like changing gear with the engine switched off' test proving?

The clutch. If the clutch isnt clearing fully the input shaft will still be turning making it hard to get into gear.if the engines off nothings moving

change your gearbox oil, be surprised at how much this makes changing gear better

Just a quick hijack - what would be a recommended gearbox oil (brand more than anything) or did I just ask "that question"...

MTF94 is the recommended oil for the PG1.
