I had several - 2.0i estate in silver, 2.0i MG in BRG and a stripped turbo in white for spares.

Will always have a softspot for Montegos. My dad had 3 of them, the last being a 91 J 2.0SLX. In fact my first drive was in one on Southport beach when I was around 10 years old!
Would love to own a MG Montego one day, they look fantastic.

Ha.... I had a similar first driving exsperiance at 10 years old. I was sat on my dads lap, driving his montego turbo, going down hangers straight (on the infield) at silverstone. He let me control the wheel but I couldn't reach the pedals. That didn't bother me because we were doing 110mph anyway :). Got a pic somewhere.

Funneily enough I still have that car and have been giving it a lot of tlc and upgrades recently. It would kill my 180 and thats no slouch. wouldn't be suprised if it was quicker than my porsche.

You lot must be mad... proper "old man" colour and with a highly worrying interior

There's retro cool then there's that...

Wish we still has ours! Looked great in black and went like stink.
Not sure you can compare Southport beach to Silverstone but I see where you coming from!

I must admit there's nothing nice about that one on gum tree.... Infact it's quite nasty!

I love the old school dials! Put coloured LEDs behind them and you have a proper Knight Rider dash!

Some did have knight rider dials. Must have been the nuts in the 80's

I did look into fitting one of those in my later monty estate but you had to change the whole loom to get the failed light indicator to work, all the earths fed back to the dash from the lights.

I have had the maestro version in my day 1 MG maestro 1600 and fitted the same to a mini and then a metro.
