I left this morning at around 6:40 and there was about 1 to 1.5" and on the way into work there was nothing. However that is a different story now in Aldershot and everything is covered! My 35 mile commute back home is not going to be a nice one as down south it is getting on for 5-6" according to home. God I wish I still had the bloody Disovery!

Snowing again here, traffic chaos this morning the M4 was closed between J36 & 37, now the diversion via the A48 is blocked by snow and stuck vehicles, the local councils snow plan appears to have collapsed like a cheap tent

We have nothing up here its like a nice spring day. Got to laugh, my work put us all on standby for snow clearance which they never do and it couldnt be clearer up here.

We have it, 4" doesnt look much, but just tried to get the Punto off the road.

We live on a hill, no way was it going to get up and over the kerb, so backed it down the hill and parked on a road behind us. Thats on the level, so hopefully safer.

Cars try and get up our hill and cant and then start sliding into the kerbs, always a worry. Plus our bit of road always seems the last to clear!!!!!

Knew I should have bought that torn bag of rock salt in B&Q, £2.50, what a tight whatsit!!!!

I posted it on facebook, bt seems apt so posting it here too :p

However I must say, much fun playing with the 180 in this snow! and watching the Audi Quattro's and BMW 3 series' spinning their wheels and going nowhere... its all about how you drive, not what you drive!

We've had just over 6 inches today. Neighbours must be questioning my sanity as I was stood out in it changing the alternator on the zed while they were digging out the sledges!

Theres a couple of inches over here in Bradford, made driving the MGTF interesting on the way home. I let the Mrs have the ZS 120 as its a bit safer for her. The 180 (Track car) is safely tucked up in the garage where it will be staying.

The 35 mile commute home was not as bad as I was expecting. The roads were near enough deserted. Still treacherous, slippery but passable. Still get some idiots driving at speed, all well and good until you need to slow down.

I am still more than irritated with work. It is always quite at this time of year and the recent snow casts have discouraged our customers from ordering much. Todays snow stoped collect customers coming in, I think the last was about 11.30 instead of the usual rush at 4.55.

It started snowing at about 8 a.m., we picked all of the orders for delivery for Monday by 9.30 and started clearing snow, I used the snowplough forklift attachment for nearly 2 hours, we spread 150 x 25kg bags of salt around the yard (we do have about 2500 bags in stock). All the lorries and vans were back and loaded by 2.30. Everything was done.

We had the weekly blog from the acting MD first thing this morning asking us to take care in the current weather conditions.

And the depot manager - jerk - decided that no one should go early, Then he disapeared at 4.30 so our line manager started to let us go - I left 10 minutes early after doing nothing for nearly 3 hours.

Thankfully there was no traffic so I got home in double quick time.

Got in doors and my 16yr old rang asking me to pick her up on the way home from work!

As Gemma is at her mums I decided to treat the kids to a dominos - spent 15 minutes trying to sort out an order - then the 18yr old tells me that they aren't doing deliveries.

Got a bit now to be fair ... I take the mick out of my mrs panicking about driving and the schools being closed, but it's been snowing pretty much all day now and although not heavy and massive flakes, it has been going a while...

I could do with a better OSF tyre, but other than that I can't complain too much about how my ZS has handled the conditions. The back end has been fine, and if I steer clear of the throttle pedal the TD's torque pulls me up to a respectable speed through the gears with very little wheelspin.

I just dont tempt it in mine, bitten once in the zs in the snow and now if I can avoid using it in this weather I will do. Even with good quality branded tyres the other year, it was shocking and I do know how to drive in the snow. Not saying im perfect by any means but it doesnt bother or worry me driving in the snow until I have to use the zs.
A car that feels so planted on a daily basis transforms into someting very oposite. Maybe just mine or my experince but I dont risk it now.

Mines still buried under the snow, nice zs shaped snow figure on the drive lol

Just started snowing again in Bridgend, I went out this morning and have to say I'm well impressed with my winter tyres, I got up a hill which I'd been stuck on previous years, straight up no problem, mind you 240bhp is a bit of a nuisance with so little traction.

peterzs
21-01-13, 04:35 PM
Think you are brave even taking it out.

Makes you wonder if we would all be better off with a set of winter tyres.

Trouble is its only once in a blue moon, down here on the south coast, most likely be perished before the tread goes.
