View Full Version : Oil change what oil?

Hi going to do a oil/filter change,what would you recommend?2001 zs180 104000miles,last serviced 90k according to the service book.Or should i speak to opie oils?
Need oil/filter fairly quick as thinking of doing it this w/end or tuesday.

Opie recommends 5w 40 iirc.
They have many posts on here and other Rover sites.

try finding a 5w40 part or semi-synthetic that's a reasonable price....

mines at 143k and I like to try and do it every 6000 miles as its probably wanting fresh oil more regular now-a-days

Thanks for the info,its gonna have to wait till next w/end,forgot im on call this w/end! Can anyone recommend a filter removal tool,last time i did one many years ago it was a chain thing-which was crap!

I use a ratchet one with a 3 bits on it to grab filter, does alright for me

Failing that when it don't work, screwdriver and a tug

I use one of the 3 legged type as well, its never failed yet.

6.2 litres iirc, I normally fill the filter, then put whats left in the 5 litre container into the sump, then run the engine to circulate the oil, then top up to the max mark on the dip stick
