Stopped at the lights last night and a couple of wee guys in a saxo VTR pulled up beside me and said nice Evo big chap, bet thats fast as f**k.
I had to laugh, not the first time the Zed has been mistaken for an Evo. Cans see the resemblance myself
My Blue ZS MK1 used to be mistaken for an Evo all the time L: ) (Blue saloon with huge spoiler lol)
My Black MK2 ZS seems to be mistaken for a Monaro now... I can't see how personally, but I'm not complaining :D

I have a hatch with the small spoiler so i just cant see the resemblance. Ive also been told from a distance the front end looks like a BMW

From distance this can be true for a mk2.

Was the other driver in question trying to take the ****? I use the word trying in the looses sense as he was driving a saxo.

He was deffinately looking for a race. He tore away from the lights like a bat out of hell. Fortunately my days of racing we neds in Saxo's are well behind me.
Besides i dont know if my 180 would keep up with a VTR through the town. On the motorway no bother but from a standing start im not so sure ?

The Saxo VTR is a 1.6 8 valve with 90bhp I would hope you could!#

But keep in mind they weigh next to nothing. Up to about 50 -60 from a standing start they do go like stink. My 180 is fast once its going but until you get into 3rd gear i dont think its that great !!

Just looked on Parkers and they are 2 seconds to 60 slower at best and 2.8 at worst even a VTS is slower than the 180!
I wouldn't be happy with a Saxo beating me off the lights if I was trying against something like that! I tend to keep creeping forward as if I'm gonna fly off just to let them go on their own! :-)

the key points here are that the statement was made by a Saxo driver... possibly from Glasgow.
Says it all really lol

Mine keeps being called a ROVER lol.
I had the track car referred to as a Rover once...while the guy was standing next to it...you know...with all the massive MG stickers on it!

It will never change, will always be referred to as a rover by those who don't know. Was speaking to Avo the other day and had to refer to the zs180 as the 45/400 so he new what car I was on about 😝

With it being called a Rover is probably funnier if said car has made a fool of something far superior in someone elses eyes. What sounds better, to have been embaressed by an MG or a Rover!
Honda Civic body shell and loads of Civic shared parts ;)
Although if you have a 180 then the engine and suspension was never fitted to a Rover (the Rover 45 V6 was a 2.0 litre engine and was only available in auto) so hardly a Rover!

The boys I go to knockhill with call me and my mate "team rover" and also ask if the Rover still weighs a few ton haha.
Mine probably only weighs about a ton lol

would say I'm there about's as well.
I've also had the Evo comment before then its usually followed by a bit of a pause and and you can see them thinking "yellow Evo??" then they click and think "not a Evo" but they don't really know what it is now haha!

I don't think so
I just went to Tesco & a couple of lads in a fiesta shouted "nice scooby mate!"
My Mrs laughed & said its a MG. they looked puzzled...
