Have heard removing the resonator box and pipe from the filter housing improves air flow and makes a better sound. Worth doing?

Doubtful, where did you hear that.

Heard it off a couple of people. Will probably fit a green or itg panel filter to improve the airflow/sound and a jan speed back box

All you have to do is the remove the pipe and you can leave the resonator box insitu as it will be redundant anyway. Just loosen the 2 nuts at the top of the filter housing and wiggle it and the pipe should just drop off.

But by doing this beware of sucking water into the engine. It does make a slight difference in noise but doubt about better airflow.

About 7 years ago I removed my resonator box and replaced it with a length of ducting from the filter housing lower outlet to the inner wing. It made probably no difference but made a nice sound. Soon after I fitted a BMC CDA and it is still there now doing a grand job.

As said if you want loads of water and general muck to enter the engine, do so

Whom ever told you to do that - slap them for me please

Induction kit such as a BMC CDA or ITG filter kit needed

Haha will do!, going down the route of fitting an induction kit in the near future
