im after the clocks for a facelift rover 45 diesel as my temp gauge had stopped working but all sensors have been replaced so machinic recons its the dials.

zs or rover dials would do fine

also do the pre facelift ones fit?

A simple test for the dials and wiring is to earth the temp sender wire with the ignition at position 2, the temp gauge should go to fully hot.

yea thats what he tryed and nothing happened to the dials at all so suspected it will be the dials themselfs, cheers for confirming this tho :beer2:

tbh I'd be suspecting the wiring more than the dials.

You'd need a wiring diagram, but if you put a 12v feed to the instrument +ve feed, then earthed the connector for the temp sensor wire the gauge should go fully hot.
The Haynes manual has a wiring diagram for the mk1 instrument cluster I think.

will the mk1 and mk2 be the same? as mine is the facelift

It has, the coolant temp sensor feed is a Green and Blue wire, the 12v feed is a yellow wire from fuse 15 going to terminal 1 on one of the multi plugs on the back of the instrument cluster.

i believe so, I used the mk1 instrument wiring diagram to wire in extra gauges on my mk2, it hasn't burst into flames yet:happy:
