Think one has gone as the left side of the revs and right side of the speedo are quite dim, are they easy to replace and what are my options re mods?

They are pretty straight forward, the surround is held in with 4 screws, 2 at the top and 1 behind each of the blanking plates on the bottom of the surround, then the instrument pack is 3 screws which are easy to see with the surround removed, you can then move the panel far enough to reach behind to replace the bulbs, if you want to remove it completely there are 2 large multi plugs, and 2 smaller plugs (one green, and one blue), and the srs bulb on the r/h side at the bottom.
If you want stay with the standard colour you'll just need a new bulb and swap the Orange filter off the old one, White led's would work ok as well.

fyi, the bulbs are identical to the bulbs used for the front sidelights (and rear numberplate iirc), in case you want to have them ready before tackling the job.

Could always buy THESE (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320990372679?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649), and get this effect:

No need to rub the orange off the back of the dials either.

Cheers
