I know what to look for in terms of engine.
But is there anything in particular to look for on the saloons?
And on mk2's specifically?
He says all electrics are good and in working order.
Anything special to test for?
Fingers crossed all will be good!

Leaky boot, check for water/rust in the wheel well (or smell of damp). Bodykit is all there and secure (if it's present). Check all 4 door handles work correctly too.

Would have thought the hatches would be more prone to leaking!
Right ill take a good look around it.
It's a mk2 180 and has all of its fit by all accounts. Just no extreme spoiler. Has a lip spoiler!
I keep hearing the handles are crap, can I swap for mk1's handles or are they as crap?

You can be gentle with them, but they may well still break eventually - sometimes it only takes one ham-fisted tug!

A/C is working, if it has it.

Belts done.

Test drive for the Vis kicks, also feel the wheels after a run for sticky callipers.

Check inside edges of front tyres, they wear badly.

Ask if its been in an accident and repaired.

Good luck, hope its a good one.

Yeah will be doing that, I'm starting from cold and then when warm i take it for a drive. My current motors work perfectly so ill be able to tell, though it is modified so maybe won't feel as sharp!

Has ATC which he stated was working but I will test it (if it is easy to use that is!)

It hasn't had belts done but this is gonna be a bargainer.

I've also had sticking calipers on my current one so will hopefully be able to tell! :)

Didn't think about accident or repairs! Good one!
Rear bumper looks a little saggy but should be easy to sort and maybe another bargaining point!

Sorry, was only suggesting the less obvious issues. My saloon boot leaks due to lip spoiler bolts rusting and letting water in.

Don't forget seat bolster wear too

No less obvious is good!
The big stuff I know!

Are the lip spoiler bolts prone to that? Are they easily replaced?
I could stick some sealant on them I know but is rather replace and then seal if possible!

Yet to tackle it bit my bolt is just spinning as the thread is gone which may be fixed to the lip spoiler so will need to glue and seal it. Also shake the boot as they get filled with water too although this is usually due to the big spoiler that this one won't have, but you never know. The boot is known to leak from various spots, all fixable though but a good bargaining tool.

Oh, also check the 4 vents work and have all their fins, they are quite fragile.

Long trip today but worth it I reckon.

Was a couple things wrong with it:
It has a hatch exhaust on it!
It has a crappy induction kit on it.
Has crappy after market watcher jets
Has an "MGZS" sticker over the rear taillight
Has a silly "v6" badge on the back
Has a couple of car park dings but not too bad.
A couple areas need touching up to.
The biggest problem is a sticking calliper on the NSR.

Apart from that its very clean inside.
Very little wear on the drivers bolster.
All carpets clean and dry.
Aircon cold and all fan speeds working.
Has cd changer and what looks like the original keyword head unit
All electrics working, though I miss the half press of my mk1 on the drivers window!

Boot doesn't fall down and chomp my head!

Likeing it at the minute!
Just lacking some soundproofing but I can sort that as I strip the mk1
For its doorcards and add some extra behind the doors.
And take the behind dash stuff when me and my cousin strip it out for some track days :)

Just need to sell my ZR now!

Nope not at all! And the handles stay on!

What you reckon would be a good price?
No belts bear in mind. And 74k
And a blood squeaky wiper!

Close, £1200.
I low balled but he was having none of it lol

Still, not a bad price I think. I'm well happy.
Now to fix it up a bit before PoL

When you think what £1200 would get you for anything else. It's a good price for a great car.

Old and new!

And what a difference an ITG and a decat make to the 180's
My early one is definitely faster in picking up!

Looking good. Given the age of these cars, its very rare to find one without any faults or little niggles which need sorting. £1200 is a bargain considering the amount of car you get for the money.

Think an ITG is out of my price range for my MK1 180, but a decat is tempting lol.
