I didn't work out the actual mpg but I'd guess this is from 45L of fuel. How did I achieve this? I replaced my rear seats with a wedding cake :)

what engine? Are you parked facing uphill :P

I just found a seized calliper that I fixed last weekend so am looking forward to seeing the difference on the next fill up, already seems better!

Yeah, dragging brakes will kill the mpg, under inflated tyres also.

Tyres at 33/30. KV6 on the flat. I was cruising on teh motorway at 3333 rpm with as little throttle as possible. Not massivley fun. Apologies for the massive picture, I hate when people do that so I'll have to edit it later.

Last night I acheved 7.6mpg on my journey home of 9 miles, but it did take 1 hr 40 due to the snow chaos, today was the best ever journey home, 17 minutes and didn't actually stop once.

I managed +420 miles out of my old Mk2 a few times on long trips... it seems the Kv6 likes to sit at about 80mph because the economy was much less if you stuck to 70 or below.

Great cruising machine

I've never managed to get that from mine. Also mines the complete opposite, it is great on economy around 65mph before the vis start kicking in but as soon as your stretch its legs to anything like that you can certainly tell the difference.
All this mpg talk certainly does prove that although they are the same cars they are all different too. If the same person drove 3 different cars in the same way I bet there would still be a big difference between fill up distance.

Mine had a custom carbon fiber induction kit and full Janspeed exhaust from the manifolds back - so that probably helps

i just managed 330miles to a tank, my best yet :) although it was mainly motorway miles sitting at 80mph with a few naughty moments in there ;)

Yeah, I tend to get around 350 miles to a full tank of Momentum

this is mine from a trip yesterday, up to and through central london, so not all motorway at all, this is with 2 strong magnets now on the fuel line and im increasing believing they actually do seem to do something.

Get out, by that mileage mines into the last quater in if not almost on the red.. Think I may well try the magnets to see if any change on mine then. Dont see how they can be that far apart on miles per tank, I would expect a bit of variance but thats a huge difference to mine.

How did the rest of the tank do? In all teh ZS's I've been in that halfway marks has never been right, although I've never emptied a tank completely. That's still some impressive mpg you get though, detials on these magnets! I suspect you just have a very strong car and a girly-weak right foot.

Google "magnets on fuel lines", draw your own conclusions.

I am sceptical about them but is it possible they would make a difference? I know wouldnt be that great but then I dont know the full workings of charge affects on fuel and so on. No matter how much I read these things I dont totally follow it.
Ive seen the advertised all over the place and was interested but unsure as had never known of someone using them.

Okay just found a page you must have read too and has what seems to be quite thorough tests done and as usual goes againt everything the manufacturers of these products want us to believe.
Still a bit unsure but its one of those things that will never know as wont possibly waste £30 on them when thats half my tank filled.

Here is a review of the magnet idea, he seems very enthusiastic about it too....

The magnets thing has been around for years, and every time they are independently tested the whole theory falls flat on its face, if they did what sellers of such devices claim, manufacturers would fit them as standard.

Thats fair enough, I hadnt seen them until recently so was just wondering. Totally get what your saying Pete.

i dont get it either, but my friend put one on and he noticed a difference. i bought one for a few quid and it was a crap magnet so found one in my man draw not sure what it was for but its strong so i put that on. i just filled up to see what litres ive done and ots exactely 27.5 which is spot on half a tank. which works out about 43mpg average i think. Anyway im not selling these so these arent made up for sales just showing people what the zs can do. bear in mind this wasnt all motor way driving.

I wonder if an old hard drive magnet is strong enough. I've got a few of them. Maybe I should sell them as "Super fuel savers" Can hurt to try it for free, can you post a pic of where it is installed please? I'll send you beer money if it works!

Ha ha yeah I wondered who would spot that first. It was the Mrs TD, works out about 44mpg.

My 800 kv6 on the other hand works around 20mpg, over the last year she has averaged 22.
