I was repairing a burst radiator hose in my mates 1.8t this morning. Took it for a drive and on the dash is a light. It's orange, round with lights at the side. I should have took a picture. It's right in the centre. My mate said its been there since he got it. What is it?

sounds kinda like a brake pad warning light

If it's round with 3 dashes each side it is brake pad warning
