Well for past few winters I was putting the old girl into hibernation and each time I got her out there was a slight drag off one of the calipers but nothing as to cause any serious over heating or smoking.

Last month I did braided hoses and fitted yellow stuff pads and found that o/s/f caliper was the culprit so i cleaned up the sliders and pad recesses but to no avail.

Ended up fitting a new piston and a repair kit of fresh rubbers and what a difference.

Sounds daft but problems like this crop up slowly and when you are used to driving it feels like nothing is wrong.

I did a fuel trial over 1,000 miles of various driving and my average was 24.1 mpg. £40 of V-Power would do 130 to 140.

Since sorting this my current £40 worth of V-Power has given me over 150 miles and I reckon I will achieve around 170 to 180

The moral is, not to let these minor issues build up and investigate and cure straight away as it's well worth it. Keep an eye on the tyre pressures too.

Indeed good tip, all too easy to think its not mechanical drag.
